Appalachian Athletic Conference Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships

Johnson City to host 2022 Appalachian Athletic Conference Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships Presented By Bank of Tennessee

Visit Johnson City, Milligan University, Science Hill High School, and The Appalachian Athletic Conference
have partnered in order to plan and host this year’s conference championships at Kermit Tipton Stadium
on April 22 and 23, 2022. More than 500 athletes representing 15 schools from across the region will join
local athletes from Milligan University to compete for conference titles.

Recent and ongoing investments by the City of Johnson City at Kermit Tipton Stadium have made it
possible to host premier collegiate level events like this one and those hosted by East Tennessee State
University. This AAC Conference Championship will be a permanent fixture in Johnson City, returning
every third year.

Milligan athletes to watch include Freshman Bryn Woodall who, in his spring debut, set the Milligan
record for 5K at 14:17.65, the No. 2 time nationally. Also to keep an eye on, Science Hill Graduate Aaron
Jones. Already a cross country and indoor track and field All-American, Aaron qualified for nationals in 5K
last year and is expected to perform highly this year. Additionally from Milligan, Avery DeWolf Burton is a
six-time cross country and indoor track All-American and Alyssa Bearzi was the 2021 NAIA cross country
national champion. Both are looking for their first outdoor All-America honor this spring.

The meet will begin at 12:00 PM on Friday April 22, 2022. Volunteers are still needed to assist with the
event and will receive great volunteer incentives like snacks, meals, drinks, shirt, and a chance to win gift
