East Tennessee PBS, in partnership with the Paramount Center for the Arts and ETSU’s Bluegrass, Old Time, and Country Music Studies program, presents an advance screening of Ken Burns’s COUNTRY MUSIC!
COUNTRY MUSIC chronicles the history of a uniquely American art form. From southern Appalachia’s songs of struggle, heartbreak and faith to the rollicking western swing of Texas, from California honky-tonks to Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry, the series follows the evolution of Country Music over the course of the twentieth century, as it eventually emerged to become “America’s music.”
Country Music is directed and produced by Ken Burns, written and produced by Dayton Duncan, and produced by Julie Dunfey, the Emmy-winning creators of PBS’s most-acclaimed and most-watched documentaries for more than a quarter century. This eight episode, sixteen-and-a-half hour series will begin airing on PBS September 15, 2019.
This event is free and open to the public with an online reservation.
Special pre-show performance by students in ETSU’s Bluegrass, Old Time and Country Music Studies programbegins at 6:30 pm.
