Coon Den Falls Hike

Hike: 2.5 or 4 Miles Rating: Moderate Drive: 13 miles ($2)
Our hike today begins on a new USFS Trail designed to keep hikers off Dennis Cove Road. If our group decides to continue on the Coon Den Falls Trail until it meets the Appalachian Trail, we will first drop a shuttle car at the new parking area before the Laurel Falls AT crossing on Dennis Cove Road. Then we will continue on toward Dennis Cove Campground and park in the area on the left before the campground entrance. Our new trailhead is across the road from this parking area. These falls are less visited than nearby Laurel Falls, and have their own distinct charm. Leader: Teresa Frazier, (423) 213-6074. Depart: Elizabethton High School 1:15 p.m.
