Doe Mountain to Host National Great Trails Workshop, Encourages Volunteers to Register

Mountain City, TN – Doe Mountain Recreation Area will host a National Off-Highway Vehicle

Conservation Council (NOHVCC) Great Trails Workshop May 15–17, 2026, bringing nationally

recognized trail experts to Northeast Tennessee for a three-day, hands-on training event focused

on building and maintaining sustainable trail systems.

The workshop, held at the Doe Mountain Adventure Center, will provide in-depth instruction on

trail design, construction, maintenance, and management. Participants will gain practical, field-

based experience alongside industry professionals, learning techniques that improve trail

sustainability, enhance safety, and reduce long-term maintenance needs.

This training is designed for trail managers, volunteers, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone

interested in developing high-quality trail systems. Organizers emphasize that volunteer

participation is especially valuable, as the knowledge gained directly supports the continued

growth and maintenance of Doe Mountain’s trail network and strengthens the region’s outdoor

recreation efforts.

Registration is limited to ensure a high-quality learning experience, and spots are expected to fill

quickly. The workshop will include both classroom sessions and on-the-ground field training

throughout the Doe Mountain trail system.
