GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Greeneville/Greene County Public Library is proud to announce the following dates for the annual Greeneville Book Sale: Friday, April 26th and Saturday, April 27th; Friday, May 3rd and Saturday, May 4th; and Saturday, May 18th, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 406 N. Irish Street in Greeneville. The first weekend, hardback books will be $2 and paperbacks, $1. The second weekend, all books will be half price. And on the last day of the sale, which coincides with the Iris Festival, books (excluding Special Collections) will be $2/bag.
“Because of our community’s generosity, we are able to provide up-to-date facilities and offer expanded programs and materials at the library,” said Erin Evans, Librarian. “The success of the annual book sale depends upon volunteers who donate their time for months, gathering, sorting, and selling books and media. We welcome their participation at any time.”
Thanks to the generosity of Greene County residents, many thousands of books are available for sale this year. The selection of hardback and paperback novels is vast. In addition, there is a diverse selection of Children’s, Young Adult, Romance, Inspirational, Biography, History, Art, Travel, Cookbooks, Western, Science Fiction, Horror, and Large Print books available. The Special Collections section includes vintage, collectable, and autographed books. Multimedia collections include vinyl, DVD, CDs, games, and audio books. Book collectors and shop owners are welcome.
“We urge Greene County residents to go through their bookshelves and take any unwanted books to the library so they may be included in the sale,” said Julia Pensinger, Greeneville Book Sale Committee Chairperson. “If you have a large number, you can call the library (423-638-5034) to make arrangements for someone to pick up your donation.”
All of the money raised through these donations, and the efforts of volunteers, directly benefit the library and the community. Last year, the library received over $30,000.
