Haunting Tales at Anderson Park
October 21, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
A brisk autumn evening is the perfect time for a family-friendly experience complete with spooky tales and treats. On Saturday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m., King University’s Twin City Radio Theatre Troupe will perform Mary Shelly’s “Frankenstein” and “My Son, John,” from the classic old time radio series “Quiet, Please,” at the second annual “Haunting Tales at Anderson Park.” The event is hosted by the Bristol Tennessee Parks and Recreation Department and King’s Twin City Radio Theatre Troupe.
“We’re thrilled to co-host the 2nd annual ‘Haunting Tales at Anderson Park.’ Halloween is the perfect time of year to highlight one of the masters of the macabre. With its colorful hosts, thrilling plots, and live sound effects, radio drama is a highly entertaining, distinctive family theatre experience,” said Chris Slaughter, associate professor, and chair the Theatre Department at King.
Each performance promises to be a unique theatrical experience, not unlike what might have been seen in a radio studio in the 1930s or 1940s with actors gathered around microphones with scripts in hand, live sound effects, and colorful hosts setting the proper mood for the evening’s dramatic offerings. A brief question and answer session will take place following radio drama performance.
“We’re very excited to bring this show back to Bristol again this year,” says Mike Musick, recreation superintendent for the City of Bristol, Tennessee Parks & Recreation Department. “The city will provide free popcorn and cotton candy while supplies last.”
