History Happy Hour
September 21, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
FREEHistory Happy Hour continues this fall! September’s program features two presenters from East Tennessee State University talking about the life of Jessie Ackermann. Masters of Liberal Studies student Mary Bronson and Reece Museum Collections Manager Amy Steadman will both be speaking at this event. The program will be on Thursday, September 21st at 6:30 pm, and it will be at the International Storytelling Center in Jonesborough. It is free and open to the public.
Jessie Ackermann was a writer, traveler, orator, and social activist. Mary has been researching Ackermann’s life for the past year and a half and has been working with Amy and the Reece Museum on designing an exhibit that explores Ackermann’s role in women’s history and social history. The Archives of Appalachia and the Reece Museum together house the largest collection of Ackermann’s correspondence and traveling mementoes.
