Holiday Felted Ornament Class
November 11, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm$12
Holiday Felted Ornament Class Scheduled at Sycamore Shoals on Saturday, November 11 from 1 pm – 2:30 pm
As part of our annual Fall Fibers Show and Colonial Harvest Celebration we will be offering a new workshop on wool felting on Saturday, November 11 from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm taught by Nancy Davis. This fun, seasonal class is sure to be a hit!
The class includes instruction and all materials needed to complete one ornament with a registration fee of $12.00. This includes: pattern, instructions, wool blend felt, needle, stuffing, matching thread and buttons if needed. A variety of felt colors will be available for students to choose from. Students will choose a Snowman or Nativity ornament. If you do not finish your project during the class, you should leave with the skills and materials needed to complete your ornament. Students should have a basic knowledge of hand sewing. It would also be helpful to know how to do the buttonhole or blanket stitch. Please bring a pair of sharp scissors to cut the felt. Please register by calling Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park at 423-543-5808.
In addition to the class, the annual Fall Fibers Show will also include vendors selling handmade fiber oriented goods in addition to spinning and weaving demonstrations.
The Autumn Harvest Celebration presented by the Washington County Militia will take place in and around Fort Watauga. Activities throughout the weekend will include; a reading of colonial governor Richard Caswell’s Thanksgiving Proclamation, open hearth cooking, flintlock musket and rifle demonstrations, and many more aspects of daily life on the colonial American frontier.
The Fall Fibers Show and Autumn Harvest Celebration take place Saturday from 10 am – 4 pm and Sunday from 10 am – 3 pm.
