Jonesborough Yarn Exchange Show
August 26, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
$5Jonesborough’s Yarn Exchange Radio Show celebrates going back to school with a special production, “School Daze,” featuring tales from the school yard.
The August 26 production takes place at 7 p.m. at the International Storytelling Center. Staged as an old-fashioned radio show, and featuring a diverse cast of players of all ages, the one-hour show will feature favorite teachers, historic schools that now exist only in memory, Science Fair disasters, and homework help given by well-meaning parents-but lead to disastrous results!
A look at Washington County’s long history of education will also be portrayed, including short skits about the School on the Rocks, Academy Hill, Warner Institute, Washington College, and more.
The production also features music guest Aaron Jackson for his third appearance on the program. Bringing his original soul-searching lyrics and his prowess on guitar, Aaron Jackson has long been an audience favorite on the show.
The Yarn Exchange Radio Show is part of the StoryTown Initiative at the McKinney Center, which is dedicated to bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds to strengthen our community and enrich the lives of those who live here through the power of our own stories. The program is sponsored in part by a grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission. It can be heard on the last Wednesday of the month at 8PM on WETS 89.5. Seating is limited for this event, and advance tickets are recommended. Tickets are $5 and available by calling the Visitor Center or calling 423-753-1010 or online at Jonesborough.com/tickets.
