Mechanical Advantage for Swiftwater Rescue – FREE
When: April 30th, 7:00-8:00 pm EST
Where: www.facebook.com/ACATennessee
By: Scott Fisher, NOLI Swiftwater Rescue InstructorJoin NOLI instructor Scott Fisher as he discusses and demonstrates the considerations and application of mechanical advantage systems used during swiftwater rescue. This will serve as a solid introduction for those with no experience and a good refresher for those with experience. For those wanting to practice along bring a throw rope, 12-20′ 1″ tubular nylon webbing (1), 6-10′ 4-5 mm prusik cord (2), locking carabiners (3) and, optional, pulleys (2). You will also want something solid to use as an anchor, such as a tree, and something you can use for the load, such as a kayak (or anything you don’t mind dragging across the ground). No need to preregister, just show up on the ACA Tennessee Facebook page in time for the 7p start. |
