One Acre Café: Lunch and a Show
October 27, 2021 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Local artist Chasidy Hathorn will wrap up the month-long #MoreLoveMovement at One Acre
Café on Wednesday, Ocotber 27 with a live painting event where she will be demonstrating with her
favorite painting tool. “When I tell people I paint with razor blades, they are surprised and ask me a lot of
questions about how and why. It’s really hard to explain because it was an accidental discovery. Through
trial and error and lots of practice, I’ve developed my own method, rhythm, and style using razor blades,”
Chasidy explains. Hathorn has received numerous requests to make videos showing her unsual techniques
and painting tools, but she does not feel videos capture the story of what she does. “I know we live in a
world of social media and video tutorials, but I’d rather people see what I do in person. I want to interact
with people, have conversations with them, and even let them try painting with a razor blade,” Hathorn
The live painting event will give lunch guests an opportunity to watch Hathorn create, ask
questions, enjoy a delcious meal, and make a donation to One Acre Café. For a donation of $25, $50, or
$75, a person can pick out a painting from the Give More wall according to the donation tier and take it
home that day. There are a limited number of paintings still available.
A favorite of the #MoreLoveMovement is the pocket-size paintings, which are always free.
During October, people can stop by One Acre Café, show them some love, and pick up one to pass along
to someone who needs a little lift. Hathorn donates MoreLove paintings, orginal artworks, and live-
painting services at no cost to not-for-profit organizations to assist them in fundraising efforts that align
with the movement’s mission of spreading love and working to better communities. “This movement has
impacted me in so many ways, and I’m happy we can share it beyond social media. We all need more
human interaction and more love—especially these days,” Hathorn stated. “We need people having lunch,
donating to One Acre Cafe, and picking out their favorite paintings from the ‘Give More’ wall. Together,
we can easily raise more than $1,000 for One Acre to help them continue their work of feeding people
regardless of their means,” continued Hathorn.
