Wooten is an inventor and virtuoso who is best known for his masterful drumming and percussion skills as a founding member of Béla Fleck and the Flecktones. At the heart of that music is a ground breaking percussion technique performed on his first invention he calls the “Drumitar,” a guitar-shaped instrument allows him to replicate sounds of an entire contemporary drum kit with just a few fingers. Hailed as one of the best players alive today, Kevin Spears’ breathtaking ability on an electric version of the traditional African instrument called kalimba, is often compared to music legends such as Herbie Hancock, Jimi Hendrix, Bobby McFerrin and Les Paul.
