Perseids on the Balds

Take in a breath-taking view of the 2019 Perseid Meteor Shower on the top of Round Bald. Roan Mountain offers beautiful dark sky views away from the lights of the Tri-Cities, making a great opportunity to enjoy a night under the stars. Ranger Hylen will kick off your evening starting at the Carver’s Gap Parking Lot on Roan Mountain with a 0.5 mile hike to the top of Round Bald on the Appalachian Trail. Once there, enjoy a star party until 11PM. Guests are welcome to stay and enjoy th ebest views of the meteor shower lasting until early morning. The peak will occurr the nights of August 11-13, but will share the night sky with a near full moon.
This program is free and has no limit as it does not take place on State Park property.
