Rocky Mount State Historic Site: Overmountain Victory

“An Overmountain Victory” on Sept. 24 at Rocky Mount
In celebration of the 239 th anniversary of the Overmountain Men and their journey to the
Battle of Kings Mountain, Rocky Mount State Historic will host “An Overmountain
Victory” at 7:00 p.m. on September 24th .
The Overmountain Victory Trail Association (OVTA) will present this special lamplight
narration describing the daring attempt of local settlers and farmers to secure their
independence by halting the westward expansion of the British & Loyalist Army. Join
them at their encampment at Rocky Mount on September 24, 1780 in the first leg of
their triumphant over-the-mountain march to victory at the Battle of King’s Mountain.
This free program is provided by OVTA through a grant from the National Park Service.

Rocky Mount State Historic Site is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 11:00
a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from the first Tuesday in March through the second Saturday in
