Storytown Radio Show: Paws and Reflect

July 27 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

On July 27 at 7 p.m., StoryTown is taking time to “Paws and Reflect” with “Stories about our Four-Legged Friends.” Join the cast as they share stories about service dogs, mischievous cats, beloved horses, and more. Renowned storyteller Andy Ouffutt Iwrin will be joining the cast to share a fun story ahead of his residency at Storytelling Live at the International Storytelling Center.

 

StoryTown performs in the format of a live, old-time radio show complete with sound effects, musical underscoring, live skits, and a great musical act. Joining the Radio Show this month is musical guest John Bills & The Academics. This local bluegrass band, with members who also belong to the Yeehaw String Band, is always a StoryTown favorite. The Appalachian Highlands Humane Society will be on hand to accept pet food and supply donations, so bring a donation and be entered to win 2 tickets to StoryTown’s annual Soups & Songs fundraiser in November.

 

The performance takes place on July 27  at the McKinney Center at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available online at Jonesborough.com/tickets or by calling the Historic Visitors Center at 423.753.1010. The Radio Show is the perfect place to kick back and enjoy a summer evening.

 

The Radio Show is also recorded for broadcast on local NPR station WETS 89.5 out of Johnson City, which can be heard the last Wednesday of the month at 8PM. StoryTown is sponsored by the Tennessee Arts Commission, Gary and Sandee Degner, Terry and Sandy Countermine, Doug and Denise Gross, Herman and Beverly Jenkins, the Wild Women of Jonesborough, and Wolfe Development.

About the McKinney Center at Booker T. Washington:
The mission of the McKinney Center at Booker T. Washington is to provide a comprehensive program through Jonesborough’s Mary B. Martin Program for the Arts, which teaches various art skills to all participants through a quality program of instruction open to all segments of Jonesborough’s population. In addition, a primary mission of the Center is to enhance minority participation in the planning and implementation in all activities in Jonesborough while specifically celebrating the contribution of the African-American community in the growth and development of the Town. The activities of the McKinney Center are designed to enhance the quality of life of all Jonesborough residents.
