GREENEVILLE – The concept might appear to come straight from a plot in a “MacGyver” episode, but people really can accomplish a lot with paper, string and glue.

Making corn husk dolls with string will be an activity taught at one of the workshops.

Tusculum University will demonstrate many of the items one can make with these objects in upcoming craft workshops for children ages 8-12. Museums of Tusculum will host “Things You Can Do with Paper, String & Glue” June 22, June 29, July 13 and July 20. Each session will discuss a different way someone can use these objects.

These Saturday workshops will be held from 10 a.m.-noon at the Doak House Museum on Tusculum’s Greeneville campus. Each workshop costs $10 for the first child in the family and $8 for additional siblings in the target age range.

“These sessions are a great opportunity for children to learn how they can use basic items to make neat crafts and play items,” said Dollie Boyd, Tusculum’s director of museums. “They expand a child’s horizons and spur their creativity in new and interesting ways.”

To preregister, please call the museum at 423-636-8554 or email dboyd@tusculum.edu.
