DESCRIPTION:Christmas Connection – a Kingsport tradition for more than four decades – returns to the MeadowView Conference Resort and Convention Center next month\, showcasing the best arts and crafts vendors our region has to offer.\nThe free two-day event will be held in the main convention hall (1901 Meadowview Parkway) on November 14 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on November 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Christmas Connection is sponsored by the Kingsport Office of Cultural Arts.\n“We’re excited to be able to continue this beloved tradition\, now in its 46th year\, serving the artisans and crafters in our community\,” said Kristie Leonard\, special events and cultural arts manager for the city. “The sights\, sounds and smells of Christmas will surround you as you search for that unique\, one-of-a-kind gift for the upcoming holiday season.”\nChristmas Connection – now in its 46th year – offers a variety of unique gifts just in time for the holiday season. DESCRIPTION:Friday\, November 14 6:00 PM\nCost: $10\nRegistration required – www.tnstateparks.com/parks/events/sycamore-shoals\nMaximum of 15 participants\nJoin Park Ranger Taylor Moorefield for a demonstration of how to make charcloth\, a vital piece of kit for your flint &amp;\nsteel fire kit! Charcloth is quick and easy to make and was a very common material on the 18th century frontier. However\,\nlike many traditional skills\, it is rarely practiced today. Each participant can take a piece of charcloth home. Watch the\nprocess of pyrolysis and see firsthand what makes charcloth so useful for a variety of fire-starting methods. Meet in the\nLonghunter camp\, located in the pine grove next to Fort Watauga’s amphitheater seats. Subject to cancelation in the event\nof inclement weather.
