DESCRIPTION:Friday\, March 6\, 2026\, Downtown Bristol businesses will host their own version of a basketball frenzy with their March First Friday event: “Downtown Dunks” presented by Believe in Bristol! This collaboration of downtown businesses offers patrons the chance to play hoops in a number of establishments up and down State Street and surrounding areas. Participating businesses will each host their own basketball goal or creative shot challenge\, encouraging guests to explore downtown while enjoying friendly competition along the way. Participants will track their scores on a provided scorecard\, with fewer attempts resulting in a better overall score. \nAs with previous First Friday programming\, participants are invited to stroll around Historic Downtown Bristol\, stopping and enjoying all that downtown has to offer. Guests may pick up and turn in scorecards at any participating establishment. New for 2026\, the festival will feature a six-horse team of the iconic Clydesdale draft horses pulling a wagon in the parade\, bringing an unforgettable new highlight to this beloved event.\nVisitors can enjoy a meet-and-greet with Highland cows and live owls from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Representatives from Rocky Creek Highlands and Happy Hens & Highlands Farm will share information about the Highland breed and offer visitors the opportunity to brush\, pet\, and take photos with the cows. The Owl Ridge Raptor Center will also be on site\, providing an opportunity to see various owls up close and learn about the organization’s efforts to rescue and rehabilitate these birds.\nThe Appalachian Highlands Celts will host Highland Games in Jimmy Neil Smith Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.\, offering visitors a chance to see expert demonstrations and even try traditional highland events like the stone throw\, sheaf toss\, and archery. Kilts are encouraged.\nEverblade Academy will offer a weapons demonstration\, a gladiatorial combat show\, a shillelagh lecture\, and gladiator history lesson in Storytelling Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.\nLive Irish music kicks off Shamrockin’ on the Plaza with Sigean at 4 p.m. in front of the International Storytelling Center. This seven-piece band delivers a high-energy mix of traditional dance tunes and stirring ballads\, creating an authentic Irish experience. Performances include appearances at the Knoxville Irish Festival\, Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion Festival\, and Big Stone Celtic Festival.\nTake part in the Brew Fun Run beginning at the Courthouse on Main Street\, continuing to Depot Street Brewing for a complimentary small pour of beer or root beer\, and looping back to the Storytelling Center for live Irish music. DESCRIPTION:The Town of Jonesborough will host its annual Easter Eggstravaganza on Saturday\, March 28\, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in downtown Jonesborough. Event locations include the International Storytelling Center\, Jimmy Neil Smith Park\, Jonesborough Central Christian Church and the Christopher Taylor House. \nThis year’s event will feature photos with the Easter Bunny\, face painting\, children’s crafts\, and a Touch-a-Truck experience with the Jonesborough Fire Department\, Police Department\, Street Department\, and Water Department. Additional activities include an inflatable obstacle course and a petting zoo featuring miniature horses\, sheep\, goats and rabbits. \nThe egg hunt will take place at Jimmy Neil Smith Park\, where children ages 12 and under can search for more than 5\,000 candy-filled eggs. To provide a fun and equitable experience\, the egg hunt will be divided into four age groups: 2 and under\, 3 to 5\, 6 to 8 and 9 to 12. The egg hunt schedule is as follows: ages 9 to 12 at 12:30 p.m.\, ages 6 to 8 at 1 p.m.\, ages 3 to 5 at 1:30 p.m. and ages 2 and under at 2 p.m. \nThe Jackson Theatre will host two free movies on March 28\, sponsored by Christ Church of Jonesborough. SUMMARY:Allandale Mansion to host annual Easter Egg Roll event
DESCRIPTION:The Kingsport Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce its annual Easter Egg Roll is returning to Allandale Mansion later this month. The free event will feature a variety of egg-citing activities along with a friendly visit from the Easter Bunny.\nThe event will take place on the front lawn of the mansion from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on March 29 and is open for children ages 10 and under. The event is being held in partnership with The Assembly at Kingsport.\nNote – Allandale Mansion will not be open for tours during the Easter Egg Roll.\nFamily-friendly activities include an egg hunt on the lawn\, arts and crafts tables and a variety of children’s games. Plus\, the Easter Bunny will be on hand for photo opportunities.\n“The Easter Egg Roll has become a tradition for many families in our region and is one of our more popular events\,” said Program Coordinator Renee Ensor. “So\, bring a basket or bag\, join in on the fun and make some great springtime memories.”\nThough the event is free\, Kingsport Parks and Recreation officials are asking folks to register to know approximately how many people will be showing up.\nTo register\, visit https://bit.ly/4aUV22h.
