DESCRIPTION:Warriors’ Path State Park Summer Events \nWeek July 20- July 25 \n  \nTUESDAY\, JULY 20  \n11:00 AM PESKY PLANTS WALK – Some plants and trees just don’t fit in. Come find out how these “invaders” traveled here\, and how they affect our native species. Meet at the main bath house for a short hike. \n1:00 PM WATCHABLE WILDLIFE WALK – Let’s hike around the campground and watch for wildlife “at home” in their habitats. Meet at the campfire circle\, east end of the campground. \n3:30 PM NATURE DOODLES – How can we take our favorite nature scenes with us anywhere? By drawing them! Join us for some nature doodling fun at the Open Air Chapel (main bath house if it’s raining). \n5:00 PM NATURE GAMES – Don’t miss the natural fun – for the young or the young-at-heart! Meet at the Open Air Chapel for some lively games about our natural world. If it’s raining\, meet at the main bath house. \n7:00 PM EVENING STROLL – Let’s wake up our senses to evening in the forest. Meet at the main bath house for a short\, refreshing hike. \n9:00 PM DRAGONFLIES – These fascinating insects have some amazing life stories to tell. Come enjoy a slide-illustrated talk about these “bugs” that zip through the summer skies. Meet at the Open Air Chapel\, or the pool entrance if it’s raining. \n WEDNESDAY\, JULY 21  \n9:30 AM WETLAND WALK – Wetlands are wet and full of life! Come along for a soggy hike near Fall Creek\, on the far side of the Devil’s Backbone. We might even spot a few dragonflies! Drive to the camp store\, and we’ll carpool. \n11:00 AM RIVERBANK RIVERWALK – Let’s learn about life along the river as we explore the Riverbank Trail! Meet at the Open Air Chapel for a relaxing hike. \n1:00 PM WEB OF LIFE – Every living thing is part of the web! Help us get really “tied up” in our work as we build our own living web. You’ll see natural places as you’ve never seen them before! Meet at the Open Air Chapel\, or main bath house if it is raining. \n3:00 PM SEED RACES – Wind\, water\, and animals carry seeds of new trees and plants all across the land. Our “wind” can help too! Meet at the Open Air Chapel to show off your “hot air” and plant some new life. Meet at the main bath house if it rains. NOTE: All activities meet in and near the park’s Main Campground unless otherwise specified. \n 6:00 PM FEATHERS – Even the small and ordinary things in nature are full of amazing discoveries. Come get a close look at some “bird clothing\,” and see feathers in a whole new light. Meet at the Open Air Chapel\, or main bath house if it’s raining \n 8:00 PM REDISCOVERING THE FOREST – Are people becoming nature-blind? Take an evening walk along the Lake Hollow trail to discover things you may haven’t noticed before\, and develop an appreciation of all the lesser-noticed aspects of the forest. We will meet at the Camp Store. Please bring water\, sturdy shoes\, and a curious mind! \nTHURSDAY\, JULY 22  \n8:30 AM BREAKFAST WITH THE BIRDS – Come wake up to our feathered neighbors. Meet at the main bath house to begin a stroll through bird country! (The first 12 people to come to get free doughnuts & juice!) \n11:30 AM TREE COOKIES – Let’s read a small slice of nature! The inside of a tree holds many clues to the outside of the land! Meet at the Open Air Chapel\, or main bath house if it is raining. \n1:00 PM RAFT CRAFT – Years ago\, men needed to know how to make rafts of huge logs\, to travel the river\, and to sell timber. Today we can make little rafts just for fun\, and to remember those early days. Meet at the Open Air Chapel (or main bath house if it is raining). We might even try out our new toy rafts at the shore! \n3:00 PM BARE BONES – It’s what’s inside that counts! We can find out a lot about our wildlife neighbors by a close look at their bones! Meet at the Open Air Chapel\, or main bath house if it is raining. \n5:00 PM FERN FUN – Make friends with some of the local ferns and their relatives. Meet at the main bath house. \n7:00 PM BIRDS OF PREY – Meet some real live feathered hunters. Come to the Open Air Chapel and see “whooo…” is waiting for you. If it is raining\, meet at the main bath house. \n9:00 PM NIGHT HIKE TO SINKING WATERS – It’s a whole different world out there at night! Tonight is our chance to discover the peace and the excitement of a night in the Sinking Waters wetland. Bring a dim flashlight and drive to the camp store. We’ll carpool out to the start of the hike. \nFRIDAY\, JULY 23  \n9:00 AM HIKE THE “WAHOO” TRAIL – Enjoy about 4 miles of strenuous hiking along an awesome trail! Come spend several hours in a beautiful and wild part of the park. Be sure to wear good walking shoes\, comfortable clothes\, and bring some drinking water. Meet at the Mountain Bike Trail parking area. \n11:00 AM BEAD CRAFT – Create your own beaded necklace or bracelet. We’ll bring the beads\, you supply the patient fingers! Meet at the main bath house. \n1:00 PM ROPE AND CORD MAKING – How did our pioneer ancestors make something as simple\, and as important\, as a sturdy rope or string? Try your hand at this traditional craft. Meet at the main bath house. \n4:00 PM CRITTER PATHS – Be a critter detective! Find out what’s been wandering through the campground habitats. Meet at the camp store. \n5:30 PM “FUZZ\, PRICKLES & BUMPS” – Let’s use our sense of TOUCH to explore the forest. Meet at the camp store to begin our “touch & feel” hike. \n 7:00 PM TAG – You’re it! You’re the one we need to make all these great tag games work. Meet at the Open Air Chapel for all kinds of tag games. If it is raining\, meet at the main bath house. \n9:00 PM CAMPFIRE – What a perfect combination: A dark night\, a crackling fire\, and some local\, traditional ghost tales. Meet at the campfire circle\, east end of the main campground. If it is raining\, we’ll have an indoor “campfire” at the pool entrance. \n SATURDAY\, JULY 24  \n9:00 AM RIDGETOP HIKE – Enjoy some fine high views of the summer forests and fields under the bright sunny skies. This is a fairly short\, but very steep hike. So wear good hiking footwear\, bring some water\, and meet at the Mountain Bike Trail parking lot. \n11:30 AM MAGNIFYING GLASS WALK – Use your eyes and some handy little magnifiers to get a close look at nature’s amazing details. Meet at the main bath house to begin a short discovery walk. \n1:00 PM NATURAL DYES – Nature’s awesome colors mean beauty for us. The early settlers wore some of them! Meet at the Open Air Chapel to try your hand at using the same natural materials as they did\, for dying cloth. In case of rain\, meet at the main bath house. \n3:00 PM SPOTLIGHT STROLL – Let’s shine our light on some bright natural discoveries. Meet at the camp store to begin a short\, sunlit walk. \n6:00 PM CATTAIL CRAFTS – The early settlers along the Warriors’ Path couldn’t afford to waste anything! Even old corn husks could become a doll or toy. Instead of corn husks\, we’ll use cattail plants. Meet at the Open Air Chapel to try this twist on an old-timey craft. If it’s raining\, meet at the main bath house. \n8:00 PM SUNSET HIKE – Watch the sun go down across the green hills. Drive to the camp store\, and we’ll carpool. This is a short\, but rather a steep hike. Bring a flashlight for the walk back down. \nSUNDAY\, JULY 25  \n9:00 AM WORSHIP SERVICE – Enjoy a peaceful morning worship service at the Open Air Chapel\, or at the pool entrance if it is raining. DESCRIPTION:Jonesborough merchants prepare for the annual Christmas in July celebration\, which will take place from July 23 to July 30. \nTennessee’s Oldest Town will be festive with Santa’s sleigh in front of the Washington County Courthouse decorated with a Christmas in July theme. \nOn Saturday\, July 24 a photographer will be on site to take pictures for any attendees at no charge\, Santa in his summer attire will be at the Lollipop Shop from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.\, Jonesborough’s Movies on Main returns with Home Alone starting at 8 p.m.\, and attendees might see some snow! \nEvent goers are encouraged to take part in the special offerings provided by participating downtown businesses.
