SUMMARY:Johnson City: Candy Land Christmas
DESCRIPTION:Connect Downtown Johnson City\, in partnership with the City of Johnson City and\nVisit Johnson City\, is excited to announce the return of the beloved Candy Land Christmas. With magical\nholiday displays\, over 160 Christmas trees\, makers markets\, and much more\, Candy Land Christmas is a “must-\nsee” event. The celebration will kick off Nov. 26 at 6:30 p.m. by presenting sponsor\, Bank of Tennessee\, with a\ngrand lighting event at King Commons\, in the heart of Downtown. The Christmas trees – displayed throughout\ntwo parks – will remain lit every evening until Jan. 8\, 2023. For more than five weeks\, the event will bring\nChristmas cheer to residents\, visitors\, and businesses. \nCandy Land Christmas features live 12-foot trees decorated by a local business or non-profit organization that\ntogether tell the story of our community. Holiday trees will transform Founders Park to the “Gumdrop Forest”\nand King Commons to “Cupcake Commons.” Visitors can follow Commerce Street\, or “Candy Cane Lane\,” to\nsee the entire display. This year’s celebration will also include holiday music playing throughout the parks\,\nspecial events most weekends\, and new decorations throughout the district. \nConnect Downtown Johnson City invites everyone to visit downtown\, walk through greenspaces\, grab dinner\nat a local restaurant\, and shop at a local retailer. \n“This Christmas celebration is a free event with a Hallmark-movie feel that can be enjoyed by families and\nfriends while benefitting the community and local businesses\,” said Lindsey Jones\, deputy director of Connect\nDowntown Johnson City. \nCandy Land Christmas was recognized as a “Christmas Display that’s Larger than Life” in the New York Post\nand on Fox News as in 2021. SUMMARY:Christmas in Olde Jonesborough
DESCRIPTION:The Town of Jonesborough will host Christmas in Olde Jonesborough\, a month-long holiday series of events and activities. Christmas in Olde Jonesborough will feature a different theme every Saturday from November 26 to December 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in downtown Jonesborough. \n  \nSanta will also be on site in his sleigh beside the Washington County Courthouse each Saturday for pictures and visits with children.  Attendees are encouraged to bring letters to Santa and drop them off in the mailbox by Monday\, December 12 and receive a reply from the jolly old man himself. Free gift wrapping will also be offered inside the International Storytelling Center during the Saturday events on any purchases made in downtown. \n  \nThe series will kick off with Whoville and Small Business Saturday on Saturday\, November 26. Take a photo with the Grinch and get a “grinch treat”. Enjoy a reading of the classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas from the Heritage Alliance at the Chester Inn Museum. This will take place at noon\, 1:15\, 2\, and 2:45 p.m. Each program will last 30 to 45 minutes. Limit is 20 people per reading. Tickets are free\, but must be picked up in advance at the Chester Inn Museum. Tickets for the first two programs will be available starting at 11 a.m.\, and tickets will be available for the last two programs at 1:15 p.m. \n  \nThe Lighting of the Tree ceremony takes place Saturday\, November 26 at 6 p.m. Music and storytelling will lead up to the official lighting of the spruce beside the Washington County Courthouse in downtown. \n  \nChristmas in Olde Jonesborough continues on Saturday\, December 3 with Doggone Christmas. Attendees are encouraged to bring their pets for pictures with Santa. The costume contest takes place at 1 p.m. including Ugliest Christmas Dog Sweater\, Best Holiday Costume and Pet/Owner Lookalike. Donations will also be accepted for the Washington County Humane Society. \n  \nSanta’s Christmas Village takes place on Saturday\, December 10 throughout Historic Jonesborough\, starting at the Jonesborough Visitors Center\, located at 117 Boone Street. Participants can pick up a program at the Jonesborough Visitors Center. This event includes cookie decorating\, children’s activities\, Santa Mart\, games and more.  The much-anticipated Jonesborough Lighted Christmas Parade will take place that evening starting at 6 p.m. The parade will travel through the festively decorated historic district from Boone Street to Main Street. \n  \nThe series wraps up on Saturday\, December 17 with the Christmas Church Tour. Stroll through town and visit participating churches in downtown. Attendees can view decorated sanctuaries and enjoy music. Guides are located at the International Storytelling Center to begin the tour.
