DESCRIPTION:The front lawn of the Dickson-Williams Mansion will be alive with music this July at the tenth annual Lyrics\non the Lawn music concert series. The free concerts are a project of Main Street: Greeneville\, and will take\nplace every Thursday evening\, rain or shine during the month of July. All performances are free and open to\nthe public. \n2023 Lyrics Lineup\nThursday evenings will include the sounds of Madison Metcalf\, Florencia and the Feeling\, Ten Penny Drive\,\nVaden Landers\, Moon vs Venus\, WyldeHeart\, The Color 7 and The Whiskey Sticks. \nThe Lyrics on the Lawn concerts are family friendly and open to all. Folks are encouraged to bring a lawn\nchair or blanket. They continue a tradition of Country music rising from the Great Smoky Mountains that began with artists like Dolly Parton and Kenny Chesney. \nDugger Band tours nationwide and continues to add to their list of performances at notable events and venues. The band has shared the stage with Charlie Daniels\, Craig Morgan\, Charlie McCoy\, Mandy Barnett\, Rodney Atkins and Luke Bryan’s band. \nJordan and Seth\, who are both songwriters and multi-instrumentalists\, made their debut at country radio with the original tune “East Tennessee Son.” They have released three Country albums to date. SUMMARY:Niswonger Performing Arts Center: The Four Tops
DESCRIPTION:The Four Tops\n\n\n\n\nTheir first Motown hit\, “Baby I Need Your Loving” in 1964 quickly turned The Four Tops into stars. Their songs\, soulful and bittersweet\, were across-the-board successes. The No. 1 R&B and pop smash\, “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie\, Honey Bunch)\,” is one of Motown’s longest-running chart toppers. It was quickly followed by “It’s The Same Old Song\,” “Reach Out I’ll Be There” and “Standing in the Shadows of Love.” \nThe Four Tops is one of the few groups to have hits in three consecutive decades. The 70s produced a string of hits with “Ain’t No Woman (Like the One I’ve Got)\,” “Keeper Of The Castle\,” “Are You Man Enough\,” and “Midnight Flower.” \nAfter moving to Casablanca Records in 1980\, the group hit No. 1 again with “When She Was My Girl.” With 24 Top 40 Pop hits to their credit\, the Four Tops were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.

DESCRIPTION:After a three-year hiatus competitors and fans from across the region will celebrate the return of the Mountain City Fiddlers’ Convention. Taking the mantle of this trademark event is Johnson County’s own\, The Kody Norris Show. This year’s event will be held on Saturday\, September 2\, 2023\, where it all began in 1925: at Heritage Hall Theatre in the heart of Mountain City\, Tennessee! \n“Growing up in Mountain City\, the fiddlers’ convention has always held a special place in my heart. Some of the greatest fiddlers in history got their start right here. Mary Rachel and I never dreamed we would be hosting this event but are super excited to breathe some new life into this Northeast Tennessee treasure\,” stated Norris. \nThis year\, there is over $12\,000 in cash and prizes including a handcrafted fiddle by renowned bluegrass fiddler\, Jason Barie for the top Fiddle Champion! The Mountain City Fiddlers’ Convention will feature many of the same competition categories as in years past with the addition of a few newLittle Roy and Lizzy Show ones too! \nThe Finale will feature a headlining band each year to close out the convention. DESCRIPTION:Firehouse\n\n\n\n\nWith music that has taken them all over the world and produced Gold\, Platinum and multi-Platinum records in the United States and countries abroad\, Firehouse is still rockin’! \nTheir self-titled first album in 1990 produced the single “Shake and Tumble” and had impressive radio success. The Top 10 hit “Don’t Treat Me Bad” was followed by “Love of a Lifetime\,” reaching the No. 3 spot on U.S. charts\, and vaulted the album to Double Platinum status. Formally established in 1935\, the KSO is the oldest continually performing symphony orchestra in the Southeast. Now almost 90 years later\, the KSO consists of 80 professional musicians\, and performs 300 programs throughout the region each season\, reaching audiences of more than 200\,000 people. The KSO continues to develop and sustain a symphony orchestra of the highest artistic standards to reach East Tennessee audiences with excellent musical performance and education programs.

DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, Nov. 18 | 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.\n$20 + tax/fee   \nJoin us at the Southwest Virginia Cultural Center & Marketplace on Saturday\, November 18 at 7:00 p.m. for a special night of music! The Blue Ridge Opry is a nostalgic country music variety show inspired by the early days of the Grand Ole Opry and the heyday of classic country stars like Patsy Cline\, Hank Williams\, Uncle Dave Macon\, The Carter Family\, and more. The program is hosted and produced by singer and multi-instrumentalist Kelley Breiding and features a variety of musical guest stars\, comedy\, and dancers from the Blue Ridge Mountains. \nThe Blue Ridge Opry performance on November 18 will feature regional women in old-time music as a celebration of our current special exhibit\, I’ve Endured: Women in Old Time Music\, on display through December 31\, 2023. The event is in partnership with the Southwest Virginia Cultural Center.

DESCRIPTION:Brian Culbertson: The Trilogy Tour\n\n\n\n\nOver the course of crafting a 25-album catalog and architecting nearly 40 Billboard No. 1 singles as a multi-instrumentalist\, songwriter and producer\, Brian Culbertson has charted his own unique course in music. Culbertson burst onto the scene in 1994 with a chart-topping album that he recorded in his college apartment featuring keyboard-led contemporary jazz tracks. Long Night Out landed him a lengthy record deal and signaled that a star was born. \nFlash forward to present day\, Culbertson composed thirty songs that populate the three albums in The Trilogy that describes the three-part arc of a long-term relationship: the hot and steamy “falling in love” phase\, the rocky middle when perhaps they even break up for a bit\, and the couple reunites to live “happily ever after” phase.  The Trilogy Tour features a mix of songs from The Trilogy albums\, as well as the greatest hits from Brian Culbertson’s catalog.

DESCRIPTION:MOUNTAIN CITY\, TN – Winner of Northeast Tennessee Tourism Associations 2023 Pinnacle Awards for Event of the Year and Best Marketing Campaign (under $50\,000)\, the Johnson County Chamber of Commerce announced the plans for this year’s Christmas on Main for Saturday\, December 7\, 2024 in downtown Mountain City.  To help promote the one-day festival in the region\,  the Johnson County Tourism Office has partnered with the event to advertise the event through Tourism Marketing Grants from the Tennessee Department of Tourism Development.  For more information\, follow VisitMountainCityTN.com. \n\n10:00AM – 4:00PM \nFestival of Trees \n  \nThe Johnson County Welcome Center will kick off the Christmas Season beginning on Monday\, December 2\, 2024.  \n​ \nStraight out of the North Pole (via Pennsylvania) Santa Claus will visit the Welcome Center from 4:00AM to 7:00PM with treats for all the kids. \n\nViewing and Voting for the Festival of Trees begins. Approximately 40 decorated trees and a Special Train are located throughout the Johnson County Welcome Center and Museum. One vote each day through December 20\nor purchase votes 6/$5. \n\nChristmas on Main Open House will be held on Saturday\, December 7\,  from 10:00AM until 4:00PM.  Beautifully decorated Christmas tree to be given away on December 21.  Prizes for Favorite trees are $100. $75. $50. $25.
