Most career AB (14\,053) ever. 17 time All-Star. 7 time MLB Hits leader. 3 time MLB Runs leader. 3 time World Series Champ. 1975 World Series MVP. 2 time MLB Batting Champ. 1973 NL MVP. 1963 NL Rookie of the Year. He got the nickname “Charlie Hustle” for a reason. Join Pete as he talks about\, baseball\, the Hall of Fame and just his life in general. This show will be loaded with great stories from a legendary baseball player.\n\nPeter Edward Rose Sr. (born April 14\, 1941)\, also known by his nickname “Charlie Hustle“\, played Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1963 to 1986\, most prominently as a member of the Cincinnati Reds lineup known as the Big Red Machine for their dominance of the National League in the 1970s. He also played for the Philadelphia Phillies and the Montreal Expos. During and after his playing career\, he served as the manager of the Reds from 1984 to 1989. In August 1989 (his last year as a manager and three years after retiring as a player)\, Rose was penalized with permanent ineligibility from baseball amidst accusations that he gambled on baseball games while he played for and managed the Reds; the charges of wrongdoing included claims that he bet on his own team. In 1991\, the Baseball Hall of Fame formally voted to ban those on the “permanently ineligible” list from induction\, after previously excluding such players by informal agreement among voters. After years of public denial\, Rose admitted in 2004 that he bet on baseball and on the Reds. The issue of his possible reinstatement and election to the Hall of Fame remains contentious throughout baseball.\n\nThe event will feature a popular local guest moderator\, Steve Hawkins.\n\nSteve retired after a 46-year career in TV news\, talk radio and media relations. He was a sports reporter for WCYB-TV when Pete Rose was an integral part of the Big Red Machine\, and when Pete transitioned to the Philadelphia Phillies; Steve was able to track Charlie Hustle’s achievements on the field on a daily basis for the first three years of his career in television.\n\nWhile a student at ETSU\, Steve began working fulltime in sports for WCYB-TV. Over the next 35 years\, he was sports director\, news anchor\, executive producer and\, for 25 years\, news director. He transitioned to talk radio in 2011 for three years and then completed his career working in media relations for Alpha Natural Resources. Steve also taught news writing and reporting at ETSU for 35 years.\n\nDoors open at 6:30pm. Showtime is 7:30pm. Our Box Office opens 2 hours before showtime. SUMMARY:Twitty & Lynn
DESCRIPTION:Sun\, March 3\, 2024\nDoors: 2 pm / Show: 3 pm\n$57.54 – $103.50 (prices include all applicable fees and taxes) / Members save at least $5 per ticket\n\n\nPurchase tickets at Twitty & Lynn – Shows and Events – Paramount Bristol\n\n\nThere’s a moment right at the very beginning of any Twitty & Lynn show that affords country music fans the chance to look back in time. Just after the band has played the signature intro to “Louisiana Woman\, Mississippi Man\,” Tre Twitty and Tayla Lynn shoot each other a glance that summons the electrifying chemistry of their grandparents: Tre is the grandson of Conway Twitty\, Tayla is the granddaughter of Loretta Lynn. Audiences can’t believe their eyes. From that moment\, for the next 90 minutes\, they’re in the presence of living country music history. “Fans have told Tayla and me that when they see us onstage singing\, talking\, and just looking at each other\, they think\, ‘Wow\, there must be something genetic in those two families\,’” Tre says. “It validates the experience of the concert for them. We’re telling our grandparents’ story through our story.”\n\nBut Twitty & Lynn — and their internationally popular show “A Salute to Conway & Loretta” — aren’t impersonators. Tre doesn’t groom Seventies sideburns and perm his hair; Tayla doesn’t mimic her grandmother’s mannerisms. Rather\, they are onstage celebrating country music\, the lost art of duet singing\, and the two beloved icons they refer to as “Poppy” and “Memaw.” “It’s about family — the fans’ families and our own\,” Tayla says. “We have so much love and respect for Conway and Loretta and we want to carry this on in such a way that we make our families proud.”\n\nNow together as “Twitty & Lynn” for five years and poised to launch a huge summertime tour\, the duo has cultivated an audience and caught the attention of Nashville along the way. In 2022\, they made their debut on the world-famous Grand Ole Opry\, singing “Louisiana Woman\, Mississippi Man” on the very same circle of wood where Conway and Loretta once stood. In the end\, though\, their goal is to entertain while\, at the same time\, honoring their grandparents. Tre is lobbying for Conway\, already a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame\, to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame\, and Tayla is working on preserving not just Loretta’s music but her fashion: she wore one of her grandmother’s outfits onstage at the Opry.\n\n“Conway and Loretta used to do everything with so much passion: the way they dressed\, the way they recorded\, the way they performed\,” Tayla says. “We want to bring that to fans who were lucky enough to see our grandparents before and to those who are just learning about them.” “Our show gives people an idea of what Loretta and Conway were like through their grandchildren’s eyes\,” adds Tre. “It’s a special gift to keep that flame burning.”\n\nDoors open at 2 pm. Our Box Office opens 2 hours before showtime (1 pm). For shows not already sold out\, tickets will be available at the door on the day of show for an additional cost of $5 (+tax and service fee). BUYER BEWARE! Third party tickets (StubHub\, eTix\, VividSeats\, etc.) will NOT be honored. Tickets are available via paramountbristol.org or our Box Office ONLY.  All sales are final.
