SUMMARY:Warriors Path State Park: Summer in the Park
DESCRIPTION:MONDAY\, AUGUST 7\n6:00 PM PLANKTON – For us\, the lake is a place to go boating or fishing. But\nfor the micro-world of plankton\, it’s a home. Come help us sample\nthis incredible world of tiny lives floating in lake water. Meet at the\nmain bath house\, and we’ll stroll on down to the shore. \n8:30 PM NIGHT HIKE TO SINKING WATERS – It’s a whole different world\nout there at night! Tonight is our chance to discover the peace and\nthe excitement of a night in the Sinking Waters wetland. Bring a dim\nflashlight and drive to the camp store. We’ll carpool out to the park\nback country. \nTUESDAY\, AUGUST 8\n9:00 AM HIKE THE BONEYARD – Come explore a remote corner of \nWarriors’ Path\, full of geologic discovery. This will be a challenging 2-\n3 mile hike\, so be sure to wear comfortable clothes\, good hiking shoes\,\nand bring some drinking water. Meet at the Mountain Bike Trail\nparking area\, at the end of Freeman Rd. Blountville TN. \n6:00 PM APPALACHIAN ANIMALS – Meet some real\, live native “critters”\nand discover more about their habits and habitats. This is a special\nprogram being held at the JOHNSON CITY PUBLIC LIBRARY\,\n100 West Millard Street\, Johnson City TN. No registration required\,\nbut space is limited. \n8:30 PM TENNESSEE SEASONS – Enjoy a tour of all four seasons in the\nhills of Tennessee. With words and pictures\, we will experience the\nexcitement of year-round discovery. It’s time\nto explore the cool\, clear creek waters. We’ll discover a world of\namazing life. Drive to the camp store\, and we’ll carpool. Be prepared\nto get wet! \n8:30 PM TRACKING – Find out how to be a “wildlife detective” – how to read\nthe tracks\, dens\, and other signs of our fellow creatures. Meet at the\nOpen Air Chapel\, or pool entrance if it is raining. \nTHURSDAY AUGUST 10\n9:00 AM FALL CREEK LOOP TRAIL -Let’s hike a fine and scenic trail!\nEnjoy beautiful vistas of the summer fields\, as we search for signs of\nthe unique habitats in the open country. Drive to the camp store\, and\nwe’ll carpool to the start of a two hour hike. \n7:00 PM MAGNIFYING GLASS STROLL – Use your eyes and some handy\nlittle magnifiers to get a close look at nature’s amazing details. Meet\nat the main bath house to begin a short discovery walk. \n8:30 PM DRAGONFLIES – These fascinating insects have some amazing life\nstories to tell. Come enjoy a slide-illustrated talk about these “bugs”\nthat zip through the summer skies. Meet at the Open Air Chapel\, or\nthe pool entrance if it’s raining. \nNOTE: All activities meet in and near the park’s Main Campground\, unless otherwise specified. \nSummer In The Park\nWelcome to Warriors’ Path State Park!\nWe hope you will enjoy your visit! If it is raining\, meet at the main bath\nhouse. \nSATURDAY\, AUGUST 12\n8:00 AM – “HIKING ADVENTURE” AT FLINT ROCK – Come along for a strenuous\n8-9 mile hike on the rugged rocky slopes of nearby Holston Mountain to an\nawesome overlook. Discover unique flora & fauna along the way. Note that\nyou MUST pre-register in order to participate in this “Hiking Adventure” –\na part of our on-going Hiking Adventure series. Meet at the campfire\ncircle\, east end of the main campground. If it is raining\, we’ll have an\nindoor “campfire” at the pool entrance. \nSUNDAY\, AUGUST 13\n9:00 AM WORSHIP SERVICE – Enjoy a peaceful morning worship service at \nthe Open Air Chapel\, or at the pool entrance if it is raining.\nSponsored by the Colonial Heights Baptist Church. \nSPECIAL NOTE: This is the last week of “Summer In The Park”\nactivities. Remember that the park and many park facilities remain\nopen year-round.
