SUMMARY:Warriors Path State Park: 11th Annual Dragonfly Day
DESCRIPTION:Dragonfly Day – 11th Annual\nWARRIORS PATH STATE PARK\n\n\nJUNE 19\n10 AM – 2 PM \n\nMeet at: Warriors’ Path State Park pool parking lot\n\n\n\n\nPrice:\n\n$5.00\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER FOR EVENT\n\n\nOur region is rich in many varieties of these amazing insects. Dragonflies are fun and challenging to observe. They are also excellent indicators of the health of our natural places. Come spend a day learning to study dragonflies “at home” in their habitats\, and also how best to record your observations with photographs. \nOur guest leaders will be: \n– Larry Everett\, an Aquatic Biologist with the TDEC\, and an expert on the “baby stage” of dragonflies. \n– Richard Connors\, State Biologist emeritus\, and an expert on observing\, identifying\, and photographing adult dragonflies. \nWe will meet at the park’s pool entrance for a short talk on dragonfly observation and identification\, but will spend most of the day “out in the field” in the park’s rich wetland habitats. \nPlan to spend a warm summer day outdoors in a variety of natural places\, getting “up close and personal” with native dragonflies. You should bring a sack lunch\, and dress for outdoor\, wet field conditions. You should also bring close-focusing binoculars and a camera if you have them. You can also bring a few of your dragonfly photos to share and to have identified (time permitting). \nYou must pre-register if you plan to attend.

As director of the center\, he works towards closing the gap between East Tennessean native speakers of English and people from other languages and cultures through language services\, such as interpretation and translation\, offered by the center. Fiuza’s first poetry book\, Ucideia\, recently won first place in a peer-reviewed literary contest from the Federal University of Espírito Santo Press\, and was published by them on March 6\, 2020. His research interests are linked to the intersection between literature and cognitive sciences\, focusing in Brazilian Literature and in Literature from the Iberian Peninsula. \nThis monthly series is inspired by the Diversity & Equity Subcommittee at the McKinney Center\, and their desire to highlight the experiences of all voices in Washington County\, Tn.\, with an intention to include marginalized groups. By showcasing these conversations\, the Diversity & Equity subcommittee hopes to open doors to new ideas and perspectives amongst our very own neighbors. \nThere is value in uplifting these stories so that we may learn from one another. Then\, after hearing from one another our moderators and guest conversationalists will give insight on how to move forward. \n### \nAbout the McKinney Center at Booker T. Washington: The mission of the McKinney Center at Booker T. Washington is to provide a comprehensive program through Jonesborough’s Mary B. Martin Program for the Arts which teaches various art skills to all participants through a quality program of instruction open to all segments of Jonesborough’s population.
