SUMMARY:McKinney Center Listening Day
DESCRIPTION:The McKinney Center will host a Listening Day on Wednesday\, May 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for community members to share personal stories with the Town of Jonesborough’s story collectors. These can be stories about everyday life\, growing up\, military service\, farming\, train travel\, teaching and more. The McKinney Center hosts a regular listening series\, which takes place every other month in 2023. \n\nAll of the stories collected will be transcribed and archived for future generations to know about life in the 20th century and entering the 21st\, how times have changed and what remains the same. Some of these stories may be chosen as the basis for scripts in the annual StoryTown community play or for one of the monthly StoryTown Radio Shows. \n\nDuring this Listening Day\, the McKinney Center is especially looking for stories about train travel memories\, travel aboard ships\, early airplane travel\, as well as growing up during the 1950s\, ‘60s and ‘70s and school stories. Ghost stories are also being sought during this session. \n\nPlease call ahead to schedule a time. Listening Day time slots will be thirty minutes in length\, and will begin at 10 a.m. The last available spot will be 3 p.m. Call the McKinney Center at 423.753.0562 to reserve a time. \n
