DESCRIPTION:The Gathering at Sycamore Shoals\nSaturday\, September 9 10:00 am\nJoin the Tennessee Society Sons of the American Revolution at Fort Watauga in honor of the Overmountain\nMen and their victory over loyalist forces at the Battle of Kings Mountain. The 243 rd anniversary of the\n“Gathering at Sycamore Shoals” will be celebrated with a memorial service and a ceremonial wreath laying. \nFall Knap-In at Fort Watauga\nSaturday\, September 9 10:00 am – 4:00 pm\nKnapping – with a “K”– has nothing to do with sleep! Knapping is the art of making stone tools\, and the Knap-\nIn at Fort Watauga is our celebration of Tennessee Archaeology Week. Watch skilled craftspeople make\narrowheads\, spear points and other early survival tools. There will also be demonstrations of bow and arrow\nand atlatl throughout the day.

SUMMARY:Graveyard Tales
DESCRIPTION:  \nReal? Imagined? Who knows? Creepy tales unfold from stories passed down\, legends and myths\, and things that go bump in the night with the Jonesborough Storytellers Guild on Sept. 9 at Rocky Mount State Historic Site. \n  \nThe Guild is the oldest continuing group of storytellers in the nation. Graveyard Tales will include scary spooky stories of ghosties\, ghoulies\, and long-legged beasties. Due to this event’s popularity for all ages\, a special children’s concert will take place at 2 p.m. for ages 5 and up\, followed by the adult show at 7 p.m. \n  \nFeatured children’s show storytellers include: \nEvelyn Edwards \nJudy “Butterfly” Farlow \nKelle Jolly \n  \nFeatured adult show storytellers include: \nJudy “Butterfly” Farlow \nCatherine Yael Serota \nLinda Poland\nWallace Shealy\nKelle Jolly \n  \nGraveyard Tales will take place on Sept. 9 at Rocky Mount Historic Site\, located at 200 Hyder Hill Road in Piney Flats. \n  \nTickets are $5 for children and $10 for adults for the 2 p.m. show.
