SUMMARY:Kingsport Art Crawl
DESCRIPTION:Kingsport Art Crawl to showcase talents of local artists\nKingsport Cultural Arts is pleased to announce a downtown art crawl will take place this Thursday (May 1) as part of the Downtown Kingsport Association’s May Shop and Hop event.\nThe art crawl will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and feature the following art businesses:\n\nClay Gurus (116 W. Main Street).\nFound Objects (223 Commerce Street).\nImpressions Fine Art (246 Broad Street).\nNow or Never Gallery (201 Broad Street).\nStudio 116 (116 W. Main Street).\n\nAn art crawl is a self-guided event where participants are encouraged to explore these various art venues\, see the creations they have for sale and maybe visit an establishment you’ve never visited before.\n“The art crawl is a wonderful chance to explore our downtown art galleries and businesses and check out the latest creations of our local artists\,” said Program Leader Linore Huss.\nStudio 116 will be conducting stained glass demonstrations and Now or Never will be offering free temporary tattoos during the Art Crawl.\nEach business will also have cards to hand out and will be stamping those cards for visitors. If you visit all five businesses and get a stamp from each one\, then you’ll receive a special bag of art tools and supplies during the upcoming Kingsport Arts Festival.\nThese bags can be picked up at the festival’s Welcome Booth on May 3 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. You must present your completed stamped card to redeem it.\nFor more information on Kingsport Cultural Arts\, please visit www.artskingsport.org.\n\nAbout Kingsport Cultural Arts\nKingsport Cultural Arts connects\, coordinates and engages the public with a creative community. We operate the Renaissance Arts Center\, the Farmers Market Pavilion\, the Kingsport Carousel\, the Carousel Fine Craft Show\, Kingsport Public Art Program\, Engage Kingsport Performing Arts Series and a broad range of support to the area’s arts organizations. KCA works in tandem with Engage Kingsport\, Inc.\, the “Friends of the Cultural Arts” group\, a private\, volunteer-led 501(c)3 non-profit community organization. For more information\, please visit www.artskingsport.org.\nAbout the City of Kingsport\nFounded in 1917\, the City of Kingsport (pop. 55\,400) is located on the Tennessee-Virginia border at the crossroads of I-81 and I-26 near the geographic center of the eastern United States. The city is widely known as a planned community\, designed by renowned city planner John Nolen and wrapping around the foot of Bays Mountain – a 3\,750-acre park\, nature preserve\, planetarium and observatory. Kingsport is recognized as an International Safe Community by the National Safety Council\, a Healthier Tennessee community\, and won the 2009 Harvard Innovations in American Government Award for its higher education initiatives. While many city names are duplicated throughout the U.S.\, there’s only one Kingsport – a fact that invokes community pride\, known locally as the “Kingsport Spirit.” For more information\, please visit www.kingsporttn.gov.
