DESCRIPTION:Portuguese Water Dog Trials \nSeptember 22nd & 24th\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation: \nObservation Knob Park \n553 Knob Park Rd. \nBristol\, TN 37620. \nThis weekend: September 22nd – 24th\, Observation Knob proudly welcomes the Portuguese Water Dog Trials to the park. The Water Dog club will be set up in the swim area of the park. During this time campers and outside guests are welcome and encouraged to visit the area and check out the dogs. However\, for the upcoming weekend\, the club has politely asked that foot traffic only be permitted past the yellow swim area gates. Golf carts and vehicles will not be permitted in the area during the time of this private event. Anyone is welcome to park golf carts and/or vehicles outside of the swim area gates and walk in. $3.00 per car entry Fee to Park in effect as normal.

DESCRIPTION:Kingsport Parks and Recreation is accepting registrations for its Beginner Archery Classes. If you’re interested in learning a unique and exciting sport\, then this beginner’s class will certainly hit the mark. \nClasses will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday from September 27 through October 25 in the Lynn View Community Center auditorium (257 Walker Street). The classes are for anyone ages 7 and up and the cost is $35 for city residents and $40 for non-city residents. \nParticipants will use compound bows during the classes and all equipment will be provided. \nTo register\, visit bit.ly/3QN08E9. SUMMARY:Johnson City: Pickleball State Championship
DESCRIPTION:Pickleball State Championship Coming to Johnson City \nJOHNSON CITY\, Tenn.  – Pickleball continues to climb to new heights of popularity and Visit Johnson City hopes to capitalize on this by continuing their partnership with Southern Pickleball to bring in the inaugural Tennessee Pickleball Association (TPA) State Championship. Memorial Park Community Center (MPCC) will play host to this 2-day event taking place September 30-October 1. The tournament is open to pickleball players of any age and skill level and no prior qualifications are required. \nGameplay on Saturday\, September 30th will consist of Men’s & Women’s Doubles\, with age brackets ranging from 18 to 70+ and including 2.5 to 4.5+ skill levels. Sunday\, October 1st will include Mixed Doubles\, granting players the chance to compete with one another across varying ages and skill levels. Registration cost is $60.00 for one day of play; participants can pay an additional $15.00 to play both days. \nDeb Fogle\, Senior Services Manager\, explains the impact and attraction Johnson City’s pickleball courts have created within the community. “Since the conversion of the four tennis courts at Memorial Park Community Center to 12 pickleball courts in 2022\, we have seen tremendous growth of pickleball in this area. SUMMARY:Bays Mountain Yoga
DESCRIPTION:A local yoga instructor is partnering with Bays Mountain Park to offer two special yoga classes to the community in the coming weeks. \nThe first class – Barge Yoga – will be held on September 30 from 10 a.m. to 11:05 a.m. on the Bays Mountain Barge. The class is designed to challenge your core muscles and balance abilities\, all while enjoying the beautiful lake at Bays Mountain. \nThis fun\, exercise science-based yoga class features poses that challenge students to build strength and flexibility while also working on coordination skills. The class will further incorporate a rest and restore portion (10 minutes) that includes stretching and breathing exercises. \nDesigned for all levels and modifications will be offered. The cost is $6 per adult and registration is limited to 8 people. Please bring your own mat and water. Participants will meet by the barge 15 minutes prior to class starting. \nThe second class – Planetarium Yoga – will be held on October 3 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Bays Mountain Park planetarium. \nThis truly immersive yoga class will be held in the planetarium theater\, while the images shown run from dawn to dusk\, simulating a day’s journey while participants do Sun Salutations\, Warrior series\, and balance poses. \nConcentric\, eccentric and isometric contractions will be featured so participants can work to optimize both their strength and balance. Finally\, the class concludes with a twilight to starry night sky for the restorative portion of the yoga class. \nThe cost is $12 per person and class size is limited to 10 people.
