SUMMARY:56th Annual Jonesborough Days Festival
DESCRIPTION:On July 3 and 4\, 2026\, Tennessee’s Oldest Town celebrates the 56th Annual Jonesborough Days Festival. For two days\, downtown is filled with music\, food\, handmade goods\, family activities\, and fireworks. It is one of the most loved Independence Day traditions in Northeast Tennessee. \nThis year’s America 250 theme adds even more meaning as the nation moves toward its 250th anniversary. In Jonesborough\, you do not have to look for the history. It is already there when you walk downtown. \n \nThe Parade Runs Straight Through Main Street \nThings kick off July 3 at 10 a.m. with the Jonesborough Days Parade on Historic Main Street. Floats\, music\, and local groups move through downtown as people line the sidewalks. \nMost folks bring a chair and find a spot along the route. People start showing up early and Main Street just keeps filling in. \nBy the time it starts\, the whole street is already buzzing. \n  \n \nDowntown Is the Experience\nDuring the festival\, downtown Jonesborough becomes the heart of everything happening. \nLive music and storytelling take place at the Jackson Theatre throughout the day. Just steps away\, more than 50 vendor booths line the streets with handmade goods like pottery\, jewelry\, soaps\, spoon rings\, and local art. \nFood trucks and festival favorites are spread throughout downtown\, so it is easy to grab something and keep walking around. \n  \n \nSomething for Every Age\, All Weekend Long\nPatriot Park\, located behind the International Storytelling Center\, is a favorite stop for families. Kids will find inflatables\, water play\, and hands on crafts from the McKinney Center. \nAnd yes\, the 8th Annual MoonPie Eating Contest is back again. It is messy\, funny\, and always draws a crowd. \n  \n \nMade by Hand\, Found in Downtown Jonesborough\nOne of the best parts of Jonesborough Days is how much of it is made by hand. \nVendors bring in everything from pottery and jewelry to soaps\, art\, and unique gifts. You can take your time walking around and see what catches your eye. \n \nA New Addition for America 250 \nThis year also brings something new. \nJonesborough Days 2026 American-Made Classic Car Show will take place on July 3 in the Washington County Library parking lot. It is part of the America 250 celebration and highlights vintage American vehicles and the craftsmanship behind them. \n \nStay for the Fireworks\nEach evening brings live music from 8 to 10 p.m. on the Main Stage. \nThen on July 4 at 10 p.m.\, the festival ends with fireworks over downtown Jonesborough. Bring your chair and enjoy a front-row seat to the spirit of Fun Fest. \n  \nThere’s something unforgettable about seeing more than a dozen hot air balloons inflated and glowing. The Hot Air Balloon Rally (July 24) offers a picture-perfect experience\, watching balloons light up against the evening sky. Breakfast with the Balloons (July 25) welcomes visitors to see the balloons take flight and fill the sky. These larger-than-life balloons combine wonder and beauty to provide some of the most memorable moments of Fun Fest. \n  \n \nClosing out Fun Fest is the Eastman Fireworks Spectacular (July 25). Known for bringing a dazzling display of color and light\, the fireworks serve as the finale to the fun. Every year\, families and friends gather all around Kingsport to take in the breathtaking show. \nPro tip: if you’re inside J. Fred Johnson Stadium for the Sunset Concert Series\, stay to watch the fireworks from your seats. The stadium is filled with music that syncs up to the firework show. If you aren’t in the stadium\, some of the best viewing spots are on Fort Henry Drive near Memorial Park or at the Fort Henry Mall. \nHeading out to Fun Fest? DESCRIPTION:Join the Jackson Theatre and the McKinney Center for a series of programs celebrating local history and America’s 250th birthday. Tales of Our 250th includes skits\, historians\, re-enactors\, musicians\, and much more in a tapestry of Jonesborough stories and community history. These events will run June–October and start at 7:00 pm at The Jackson Theatre\, located at 121 W. Main Street in downtown Jonesborough. They are Pay What You Can\, but go ahead and reserve your seats at thejacksontheatre.com.\n\nEach evening will include a scene or scenes from the original play The First and Last Town in Tennessee\, written by Anne G’Fellers-Mason\, which premiered earlier this year at the McKinney Center and was featured in The New York Times. Join Jonesborough historian Paul Fink\, portrayed by Tim Herron\, as he walks you through the big and small moments that make Jonesborough an important part of the American story.\n\nProgramming dates and times are listed below. Acts are subject to change. Each performance will last about 90 minutes.\n● June 25th – Historic Preservation in Jonesborough with Dr. William Kennedy and a performance by The Ozone Rangers\n● July 23rd – Revolutionary War History featuring re-enactors from Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park and a performance by the Watauga Valley Fife and Drum Corps\n● August 20th – African American History in Jonesborough with a special performance of the original play Nancy presented by the Heritage Alliance – Student program at 10:00 am\n● September 24th – The Lost State of Franklin with a presentation by Dr. William Hardy from MTSU and the stories behind the Battle of the State of Franklin with Tipton-Haynes State Historic Site\n● October 22nd – Civil War History in Northeast TN with Dr. Tom Lee from ETSU and a performance by the 52nd Regimental String Band. – Student program at 10:00 am\nSpecial student performances for school groups will take place on August 20th and October 22nd at 10:00 am.
