SUMMARY:The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf
DESCRIPTION:Bristol\, Tennessee/Virginia\, August 2019 – Theatre Bristol presents the fairytale comedy “The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf” on stage at the Theatre Bristol ARTspace\, weekends September 6-15. Camille Gray directs a cast of 21 from around the region in this fractured fairy tale comedy for all ages. Tickets are on sale now at www.TheatreBristol.org. \nThe Wolf: villain or victim? The Three Pigs: innocent or at fault? The Jurors (Miss Muffet\, Bo Peep\, Cinderella and Humpty-Dumpty\, to name a few): solid citizens or characters with a past? And what about Judge Wise O. Al? Is justice on his side—or does he have a secret to hide? Then there’s the media—a reporter\, newscaster and town crier. Have they come to accurately report the proceedings—or to turn the courtroom into a media circus? And who is that surprise witness at the end? The answers to these profound questions and even more are revealed once and for all in this rollicking\, fun-filled\, action-packed trial-of-the-century (Dramatic Publishing). \nDirector Camille Gray has been involved in theatre for the last 16 years\, working in all areas\, primarily performance\, costume design\, choreography\, and direction. Lucy Tester keeps everything organized as the Clerk-of-Court\, and Steve Baskett keeps “order in the court!” as Judge Wise O. Al. The press is sensational\, including Terry Bailey as the Reporter\, Grace Cassell as the Newscaster\, and Lucy Claire Foy as the Town Crier. A host has not been confirmed at this time. \nIs there a prize list available? \nPrizes vary from show to show so no prize list is available\, however the type of prizes are very similar to what you see on television. \nHow will the registration process work? \nRegistration takes place day of show\, prior to each performance. Beginning 3 hours before showtime\, each eligible person who would like the opportunity to be selected to play will provide their first and last name and day of birth (0-31) to producers via registration cards which are given to eligible patrons by Venue staff. There is no ticket purchase required to register to be a contestant\, and will not be considered a factor in determining eligible contestants or in the contestant selection process. Registration closes precisely at the scheduled showtime. \nWill I be able to register before the night of the show?\nUnfortunately not. All registration will open 3 hours prior to each show. Guests are encouraged to get there early to avoid lineups. Registration will remain open until the posted showtime. \nWill guests be able to register more than one person at a time? \nAll contestants must register themselves. Guests will not be permitted to register additional people. \nWhat is the procedure for someone who shows up to register but does not have a ticket?\nBy law\, everyone who shows up and wants to register must be allowed to do so and have equal opportunity to be called down to be a contestant. If an individual registers and DOES NOT have a ticket to watch the show\, they will be directed to a pre-determined location. All of the contestants for the show are chosen at random as soon as registration closes. The names of all eligible registrants will be weighted equally\, that is\, no advantage shall be given to individuals who purchased a ticket over individuals that did not. If an individual who did not purchase a ticket is selected as a contestant\, that person will be escorted to an open seat in the venue. Individuals who did not purchase a ticket and were not selected may leave the theater after the random drawing. \nDo I need to be there 3 hours before the show in order to register? \nIt is ideal to arrive early\, up to 3 hours\, to avoid lineups\, but registration will stay open until the posted showtime. People may leave the theater after they have registered\, but they must be present at the time of the drawing in order to be eligible. \nWhen does the drawing take place? \nThe random drawing to determine show contestants will take place backstage during a 20 minute time period beginning at the posted show time. All eligible contestants must be present at the time their name is called or they will be disqualified and another randomly selected name will be called. Eligible contestants who registered\, but did not purchase a ticket will be informed in the waiting area in the first 20 minutes after the posted show time if they have been selected. \nHow do people collect their prizes if they win? \nAfter someone wins a prize a producer will ask them to return to the front of the stage after the show where all the necessary paperwork will be done for the prizing. This takes place immediately following the show. The amount of time it takes depends entirely on the number of winners in a show. \nHow are contestants selected for each show? \nAll contestants are selected entirely at random from the pool of registered contestants. \nHow old do you have to be to register? \nYou must be 18 years of age or older to be eligible to register to become a contestant. \nCan you still go to the show if you are under age? \nAbsolutely. Anyone can buy tickets and watch the show. It’s often a family affair\, however only those 18 years of age or older can be eligible to be a contestant.

SUMMARY:Jonesborough: 6th Annual Student Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:Sixth Annual Student Film Festival to Take Place November 7 \n\nThe McKinney Center will roll out the red carpet to a dozen new young filmmakers in Jonesborough for the annual Student Film Festival on Thursday\, November 7 from 6 to 7 p.m. \n\nDuring the 2019 year\, students in the spring\, summer\, and fall film class participated in creating a series of films connecting with people\, places\, and events in Jonesborough. With assistance from the Heritage Alliance\, who provided photographs\, historical documents\, and other archival material\, the students studied history\, connected with stories that mattered\, and created films based on this history. \n\nFilms being premiered this year are “The Spencer-Slagle Murder Mystery”\, which examines an early 20th century unsolved series of murders in a format similar to investigative filmmaking; “Flashback to the Lost State of Franklin”\, in which a modern day journalist visits Tennessee’s oldest town\, and is thrust into the past while examining its history; and a series of “History Minute” short one-minute films about Jonesborough’s Telephone Exchange in the 1930’s\, Ernest McKinney\, Dr. Cunningham and the Railroad\, Virginia Maden’s memories of the Great Depression\, and John Sevier. \n\nEach film was developed and filmed by the students in the classes. They created the story boards\, learned filming techniques such as camera angles\, lighting\, integration of music\, voiceovers\, and other technical craft elements. Some students pull directly from provided texts\, while others take a more creative approach\, developing their own dialogue as they imagine the historical scenarios. \n\nBefore the premier\, students will arrive by Limo for a red-carpet walk\, and will be available to give autographs. This event is free and open to the public. Popcorn and drinks will be served during the movies. For more information about the premier\, please contact Jules Corriere at julesc@jonesboroughtn.org.

Many wishes are granted\, but after Act I\, the play takes an unexpected turn and the community must come together to save each other and their kingdom. “Into the Woods” is one of Sondheim’s most popular musicals and features the enchanting songs “Children Will Listen\,” “Last Midnight\,” and “No One is Alone.” There is beautiful music\, storytelling and dancing\, but nobody quite lives happily ever after. \nAcclaimed director Glenn Patterson (Fiddler on the Roof\, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast\,The Music Man\, Les Misérables) expertly guides the large cast through this sensational journey. \nThe November 15 opening night includes a gala event at which Theatre Bristol reveals their 2020 Season. Into the Woods is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
