SUMMARY:McKinney Center Art Exhibition: Carol McCreary
DESCRIPTION:Carol McCreary to Exhibit Work at the McKinney Center \nJonesborough’s Mary B. Martin Program for the Arts at the McKinney Center is pleased to invite you to an event featuring the work of artist Carol McCreary on Friday\, March 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition will run through April 17.  The McKinney Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The event is free and open to the public.  Most all the artwork will be on sale to the public during the duration of the exhibition. \n\nCarol McCreary is a member of the Kingsport Art Guild and has won awards in their Member Art Show and Fun Fest Fine Arts competition.  McCreary has been working on assemblages for about six years.  Her art before that time was painting but she fell in love with using antique and vintage oddities to tell a story.  Another interest of McCreary’s is clocks and time.  That is why most of her pieces are in pre electronic clock cases or contain mechanical clock parts. \n\nBefore retirement\, McCreary was a teacher for eleven years in America\, Canada\, and the British Embassy School in Moscow.  She worked with teachers on how to use computers in their lessons and classrooms.  From computers to antique clocks seems a far fetch\, but is all in one with a fascination in how things work! \n\nThe McKinney Center houses the Jonesborough Mary B. Martin Program for the Arts and boasts of a mission to be\, “committed to inspiring the people of our area through both the appreciation of and the participation in the arts as a form of personal and collective expression.”  The objective of the program is to “bring the community at large closer together and show as an example to other communities the creative influence that the arts can bring to their quality of life.”  The McKinney Center is a department within the Town of Jonesborough. \n\nFor more information\, email Theresa Hammons at theresah@jonesborougtn.org or call 423.753.0562.

Never afraid to wade into political territory\, Hoge has expressed his observations and frustration with human rights issues over the last fifteen years\, and as conflicts continued and intensified\, he refuses to remain silent. Border police. Political corruption. Poverty. Gun control. Indifference to others’ suffering…Hoge confronts them all head-on with his latest release in October 2018\, My American Dream\, and is the fiercest\, angriest and most heartfelt collection of songs he’s released to date. Currently\, he is working on new material. Stay up-to-date at WillHoge.com. \nMary Ann Kaylor Griffiths\, Publicist \nPublicity@kaylorgirls.com
