DESCRIPTION:Lyrics on the Lawn 2024 Summer Concert Series Begins July 4th\n\n\n\n\n\nThe front lawn of the Dickson-Williams Mansion will be alive with music this July as Main Street Greeneville’s Summer Concert Series celebrates eleven years with the first show of 2024 on Thursday\, July 4 at 7:00 pm.  The FREE concert will be held on the lawn of the Dickson-Williams Mansion in the heart of downtown Greeneville\, Tennessee.  The concerts take place each Thursday evening in July. The opening act will begin at 7 with intermission scheduled for 7:45 and the headliner taking the stage at 8.  The event is scheduled rain or shine on the lawn of the mansion.  Severe weather may force a cancellation so stay tuned to all forms of media for updates. \n\n2024 Lyrics Lineup\n\n\n\n\nThursday evenings will include the sounds of Jared Bentley\, Tumbling River Band\, Six Gun\, Tequila Mockingbird\, Greeneville Community Swing Band\, Club Rewind\, Fritz & Co Duo and Gents and Liars.\n\n\n\n\nThe Lyrics on the Lawn concerts are family friendly and open to all.  Folks are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket.  They are welcome to bring a picnic supper or purchase food from one the event food vendors\, Main Street: Greeneville\, or other area restaurants\, to enjoy during the performances.\n\nFood Available\n\nOn-site event food vendors for this series include Creamy Cup\, Top Dog Hot Dog\, The Wicked Pissah Deli\, and Main Street Greeneville.  Food service is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.  Note:  Creamy Cup\, Top Dog Hot Dog\, The Wicked Pissah Deli\, and Others will locate across the street from the mansion.  Main Street Greeneville will be located near the stage selling water and popcorn.  Other options can be from the downtown area merchants.  Cumberland Presbyterian Church plans to set-up dining tables and chairs near the food vendors for guests to enjoy. \n\nOpen Mic\n A new feature this year will be an Open Mic opportunity each week from 6 – 7:00pm.  Open Mic will be located over in the Food Court/Café area.  This is open to all from the kiddos to adults.  If you are interested in participating contact Jann at the Main Street office at 423-639-7102 to reserve a slot. There will be four slots per week.  Sing\, play an instrument or do both acoustically or via Bluetooth with the provided mobile sound system.  Set-up and performance time is limited to fifteen minutes per person.\n\nFamily Friendly\n The Lyrics on the Lawn concerts are family friendly and open to all.  Folks are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket.  You are welcome to bring a picnic supper.  The event is Smoke Free with a designated area. DESCRIPTION:Believe in Bristol is thrilled to announce the return of the highly anticipated Star-Spangled Independence Day Celebration on Thursday\, July 4\, 2024. This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever\, featuring a wide array of family-friendly activities\, live music\, and another dazzling fireworks display to close out the evening’s festivities. \n  \nThe event will kick off with a patriotic parade\, taking place on Bristol’s iconic State Street at 5:00 PM. Registration is now open for parade participants. Pre-registration is required this year and the fee is $10 per vehicle\, with veteran vehicles free of charge with pre-registration.  \n  \nFollowing the parade\, Anderson Park (341 Martin Luther King Boulevard) will transform into a hub of entertainment. Families will be able to enjoy a fantastic assortment of kids’ activities\, carnival-style games\, and free inflatables. Food and beverage enthusiasts will have a wide variety of food trucks to choose from and a refreshing beer garden to patronize throughout the evening.  \n  \nA veteran appreciation ceremony will take place at 6:30 PM\, followed by a few fun and patriotic  on-stage games for some lucky members of the crowd. The Border Bash concert series will take center stage at 7:00 PM\, featuring two incredible bands. With festivities planned for the Saturday on or before July 4th\, organizers expect record-breaking attendance for this beloved community event.\nThe excitement kicks off at 4 p.m. with live music\, a kids’ zone\, and a variety of food vendors. As the sun sets\, the festivities ramp up with a thrilling hot dog eating contest\, a nighttime parade\, and a breathtaking fireworks display. This free\, family-friendly event is the perfect way to celebrate Independence Day.\nEntertainment Lineup: Starting with the upbeat\, patriotic tunes of the Greeneville Community Swing Band\, the event will feature an eclectic mix of music to keep everyone dancing. Brownlow will take the stage next\, blending heavy rock with outlaw country and blues. Following them\, Fritz & Co. will deliver a high-energy rock and roll show. The headliners\, The Great Big Hug\, will cap off the night with their powerful roots rock and blues fusion.\n“We are expecting lots of smiles\, and hopefully some dancing\, to this great rock and roots music lineup\,” said event organizer Christina Potts.\nParade: This year’s parade theme\, “Thank You for Your Service\,” honors active and veteran military members\, as well as first responders. The parade begins at 9 p.m. at Towne Square Shopping Center and will make its way through downtown\, ending at Greeneville High School. The parade will feature a variety of entries\, including marching bands\, floats\, classic cars\, and more. The grand finale will be a spectacular fireworks show launching from the hill behind Burley Stadium.\nChristina Potts\, Town of Greeneville Media/Marketing Specialist\, encourages participants to “decorate your entries in red\, white\, and blue\, with bright lights to show your gratitude for our military and first responders.”\nThere is no entry fee for parade participants\, but registration is required by Friday\, June 21st. Nashville Yacht Club Band\, aka NYC\, is an 8-piece tribute to the pop and r&b sounds of the 1970s and 80s. DESCRIPTION:Allandale Mansion is partnering with a local yoga instructor to offer two Yoga Dance classes at the Brooks Pavilion next month. \nThe Yoga Dance classes will be held on June 9 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and on June 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Please bring your own mat and water. The cost is $8 per person and the classes are for anyone ages 16 and over. Limit of 20 participants. \nThe yoga dance technique incorporates elements of dance (Latin and some ballet) with exercise-science based yoga. This class will be a full-body workout to include flexion and extension of the spine\, upper body\, core and legs. \nAs is typical with yoga strength work\, eccentric and isometric exercises will be emphasized. The last 15-20 minutes of the session will be restorative in nature and mostly focused on mat work. DESCRIPTION:Brilliant Minds from Across the Global Converge for the 22nd MATE ROV Competition World Championship \nFrom June 20-22\, the Kingsport Aquatic Center in Kingsport\, Tennessee\, will be the epicenter of innovation as it hosts the 22nd MATE ROV Competition World Championship. \nBrilliant minds from around the world will showcase their engineering skills\, competing with remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) they have meticulously designed and constructed. The 2024 event will draw students\, mentors\, coaches\, volunteers\, and families from across the globe for three days of intense competition and collaboration. This year\, 82 teams from 17 countries\, including the USA\, Canada\, Scotland\, Mexico\, UAE\, Italy\, Poland\, Germany\, Turkey\, Macau\, Hong Kong\, China\, Egypt\, Saudi Arabia\, Singapore\, France\, and Uganda\, have qualified to compete. \nEach year\, the MATE ROV Competition pushes students to the forefront of real-world underwater technology. The 2024 competition is no exception\, with innovative mission tasks designed to address critical global issues under the theme of ‘CREATING SOLUTIONS.’ \nIn preparation\, participants have engaged in diverse and impactful projects\, from expanding the Global Ocean Observing System\, protecting and restoring ecosystems\, and developing ocean-based climate solutions. DESCRIPTION:JOHNSON CITY\, TN – The 2024 Miss Tennessee Scholarship Competition is coming to ETSU’s Martin Center for the Arts June 20-22\, 2024. Preliminary competitions will be the evenings of the 20th and 21st. Finals for the Teen and Miss categories will be in the afternoon and evening of the 22nd. Contestants will be in our region beginning June 16th and will participate in public appearances and service projects leading up to the competitions at Martin Center. Organizers are in the planning stages for the event and further details will be announced for the competition and ancillary events in the future. \nMiss Tennessee Scholarship Competition organizers\, along with Visit Johnson City\, City of Johnson City\, East Tennessee State University\, and Holiday Inn Johnson City\, gathered for a public press conference the morning of Wednesday\, September 20th officially announcing Johnson City as the host destination for the 2024 event. \n“Our organization has been committed to be inclusive of the entire state of Tennessee from the time we took over leadership of the Miss Tennessee Scholarship Competition. We have been in Memphis\, our West Tennessee home\, for the past three years\, while also diligently searching for an East Tennessee home.  Johnson City and the greater region have been warm\, welcoming\, enthusiastic\, and ever so supportive of bringing the competition to East Tennessee. We could not think of a better city to call our East Tennessee home\,” said Joe Albright\, CEO and Board Chair of Miss Tennessee Scholarship Competition\, Inc. \nWe are honored to be a sponsor of next year’s competition and are anticipating a high return on visitor impact and media value for the city\,” said Alec Castro\, Director of Sales and Public Relations at Visit Johnson City. “This competition is anticipated to bring 100 involved members and attract 1\,000 attendees throughout the three days of competition.
