SUMMARY:Preacher Lawson - America’s Got Talent finalist!
DESCRIPTION:Since the age of 17\, Preacher Lawson has been bringing his brand of goofy\, high-energy comedy to the stage. Best known as a finalist in season 12 of NBC’s America’s Got Talent\, Preacher made a return for America’s Got Talent: The Champions\, where he finished 5th place overall. Spending most of his childhood in Memphis\, TN\, Preacher moved 20 times before the age of 10. Switching schools taught him how to adapt. Everywhere he would go\, he would learn about different people and different cultures\, but noticed the one universal language everyone had in common was laughter. Using comedy is how he spoke and warmed up to most people. \nOrchestra: $25 I Mezzanine: $25 I Balcony: $20

SUMMARY:Exchange Place: Christmas in the Country
DESCRIPTION:Kingsport\, TN – Christmas in the Country\, the annual celebration of winter and the holiday season at\nExchange Place Living History Farm\, 4812 Orebank Road in Kingsport\, will take place on Saturday\,\nDecember 4\, from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. Following the procedure we established with our recent\nFall Folk Arts Festival\, all activities will once again take place outdoors\, and all CDC guidelines will be\nobserved\, as we continue to battle against the COVID-19 pandemic. Admission will be $5 for adults\nand free for children under 12. \nFresh greenery and handcrafted wreaths will\, as always\, be a major feature of this festival\, along with\nunique folk arts and handcrafts created by a wide variety of local and regional artisans\, plus favorite holiday\nfoods made from generations-old recipes. The celebration also features hands-on experiences for all ages\,\nand demonstrations of wintertime activities on the 19 th -century farmstead\, listed on the National Register of\nHistoric Places. \nMore than just another shopping opportunity\, Christmas in the Country will offer a glimpse into what farm\nlife was like in our region prior to the War Between the States. Our blacksmith shop will be up and running\,\ndemonstrating the historic skills needed to make hardware and tools for the farm\, fix wagon wheels and\, of\ncourse\, shoe the horses. \nThe Overmountain Weavers Guild will be displaying weaving and spinning at several locations around the\nfarmstead\, as well as offering their unique handwoven and hand knitted gift items on the Roseland front\nporch. Of special interest may be the sale of Cotswold fleece products\, made from the wool of Exchange\nPlace’s own Cotswold sheep! Proceeds from all Cotswold fiber sales remain on the farm to support our\nheritage livestock\, just as all money collected at the gate is used to maintain the buildings and grounds\,\nand see to the daily needs of our animals. \nThe heritage kitchen is currently undergoing restoration and will therefore not be open\, but the Eden’s\nRidge Hearth Cookery Society\, including our Junior Apprentices\, will be making ginger cakes in the Cook’s\nCabin and baking them in the outdoor bread oven. The JAs will also be making old-fashioned Christmas\ntree decorations\, and selling a variety of handmade items such as bark baskets\, tin cookie cutters\, pin\ncushions\, and Christmas ornaments in a craft sale booth\, located under the large Visitor’s tent.\nChildren's activities are always a feature at our festivals. Youngsters can try their hand at winter chores and\nplay as children would have done in the 19th century. They can also take part in our annual custom of\ndecorating a tree for the birds. In addition\, children of all ages will enjoy meeting and interacting with the\nanimals who live at Exchange Place year-round. \nCapping the day is the traditional Yule Log Ceremony\, which will begin around 4:15 pm and will be free to\nthe public. Originated by the Vikings\, it served as a way for them to honor their gods and request good\nluck in the coming year. Later it was incorporated into the harvest festivals of Germany and Scandinavia\,\nthen moved to England when the Normans conquered the isles and eventually migrated to the New World\nwith the Pilgrims. While a Yule Log may or may not have been part of the traditional celebration during the\nantebellum years\, we like to make it a part of our Christmas in the Country as a symbol of peace and good\nwill for our wonderful community. Since it was often decorated with evergreens and sometimes sprinkled\nwith grain or cider before it was finally lit\, we encourage everyone to bring a sprig to cast onto the fire\, and\nalso to wear fine\, colorful headgear to the event\, which will conclude with the singing of carols and\, of\ncourse\, a cup of hot wassail! Derived from the Anglo-Saxon “waes hael\,” which meant “Be in Health” or\n“Here’s to You\,” wassail helps us to emphasizes the spirit of health and friendship. \nFor more information\, you may call Exchange Place at 423-288-6071\, or log onto\nemail@exchangeplace.info . \nExchange Place is a living history farm whose mission is to preserve and interpret the heritage of mid-\nnineteenth century farm life in Northeast Tennessee. Exchange Place is a non-profit organization maintained\nand operated by volunteers and is supported by donations\, fundraisers\, memberships and grants.

SUMMARY:Very Merry Christmas Tour: NewSong and Big Daddy Weave
DESCRIPTION:NewSong and Big Daddy Weave Join Forces for the Very Merry Christmas Tour and More at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center December 3 \n\n\nGREENEVILLE\, Tenn – Grammy® nominated Christian music icons NewSong and Big Daddy Weave welcome you to this years’ “Very Merry Christmas and More Tour.” One of Christian music’s favorite holiday outings\, the concert is a night full of music\, laughter\, joy\, and remembering Christ’s birth and what that means to all of us.\n\nNewSong’s career spans over 40 years\, 19 studio albums and 20 #1 radio singles\, and they launched one of the biggest tours in the world\, Winter Jam. The band has been reaching listeners with their inspirational music since they first formed together nearly thirty years ago. The group began as a nine-member church band for Morningside Baptist Church in Valdosta\, Georgia. Throughout the years\, the band has released a variety of songs including: “Can’t Keep A Good Man Down\,” “Jesus To The World” (Roaring Lambs)\, “Arise My Love\,” “The Christmas Shoes\,” and “Swallow The Ocean\,” off their album of the same title.\n\nKnown for honest songs that tell personal stories of freedom in Christ\, Big Daddy Weave fans have long admired the band for their particular brand of real-life\, real-person openness. With songs like “My Story\,” “The Lion and the Lamb\,” “Overwhelmed\,” “I Know\,” and “Redeemed\,” Big Daddy Weave has cemented its status as one of the most beloved bands in Christian music. Millions have taken their anthems of Jesus’s chain-breaking love as their own and sung along to songs about the radical act of redemption. But while creating the album\, When the Light Comes\, the men of Big Daddy Weave\, Mike Weaver (lead vocals\, guitar)\, Jay Weaver (bass\, vocals)\, Jeremy Redmon (guitar\, vocals)\, Joe Shirk (saxophone\, keys\, vocals) and Brian Beihl (drums)\, found themselves working from a new and unfamiliar place. The inspirational themes and uplifting messages many find in the group’s music were desperately needed by the members themselves.\n\nCome worship with NewSong and Big Daddy Weave on Friday\, December 3 at 7:30 PM. Groups of 20 or more receive a 20% discount when purchased together. Tickets start at only $30 and are available online at www.npacgreeneville.com\, in person at the NPAC box office\, or by phone at 423-638-1679.

SUMMARY:ROCKY MOUNT CELEBRATES THE HOLIDAYS WITH CHRISTMAS TOURS
DESCRIPTION:The Rocky Mount State Historic Site in Piney Flats\, Tennessee is celebrating Christmas with its traditional Christmas tours. Come tour the home that hosted Tennessee’s first frontiersmen and women and learn about the Christmas traditions of 1791. \nThe Cobb home at Rocky Mount has witnessed hundreds of years of Christmas celebrations dating from the colonial era to today. Every year to celebrate Christmas\, the historic homestead is decorated with traditional 1700’s holiday décor and tours are offered to the public. During the tour you’ll travel back to Christmas Eve of 1791 when the Cobb family home is celebrating with decorations made of fresh greenery\, lit by candles\, and full of cheer. You will meet and rejoice with the Cobb family\, the governor\, and many of their friends and neighbors as you tour the historic homestead. \nOur candlelight Christmas tours are always popular by all who visit at this time of year. Experience the warm hospitality of the Cobb family and their honored guests\, Governor Blount and his wife as the evening sets in and the old rooms are filled with the flickering glow of candlelight. Our evening tours will conclude with an indoor reception including a pictures with Santa\, local vendors\, warm cocoa\, and baked goods. \nThis year we are expanding our tour offerings and including a new daytime tour called\, “A Colonial Christmas”.
