SUMMARY:Stories 'n More
DESCRIPTION:If you’re looking for the heart of storytelling in the town that basically invented the modern revival of the art\, Stories ‘n More is where the magic happens. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHosted by the Jonesborough Storytellers Guild\, this weekly event is a staple of Tuesday nights in Tennessee’s oldest town. It’s less of a formal performance and more of a warm\, communal gathering where the oral tradition truly breathes. \n\n\nThe Atmosphere\nThe vibe is intimate and authentic. Held at the International Storytelling Center (or occasionally nearby local venues like the  McKinney Center)\, the evening feels like sitting in a very large\, very talented living room. \nWhat to Expect\n\n\nDiverse Tellers: You’ll hear from seasoned professionals who have graced national stages\, alongside guild members honing new material. \n\n\nThe “More” in the Name: While the focus is on spoken-word stories\, you’ll often find the night peppered with poetry\, acoustic music\, or personal tall tales. \n\n\nA Living Art: Unlike a recorded podcast\, these stories change based on the energy of the room. It’s interactive\, raw\, and deeply human. \n\n\nThe Details\n\n\nWhen: Every Tuesday night. \n\n\nTime: Usually kicks off at 7:00 PM. \n\n\nLocation: International Storytelling Center\, Jonesborough\, TN. \n\n\nCost: Generally\, a small donation is suggested at the door to support the Guild’s mission. \n\n\n\n\nPro Tip: Jonesborough takes its storytelling seriously\, but the Guild keeps it accessible. Whether you’re a local or just passing through\, it’s one of the most “authentic” Appalachian experiences you can find without needing to hike a trail.

DESCRIPTION:Overview & Highlights\n\nThis is for you if: You want to develop a more comprehensive foundation and greater proficiency in wilderness survival skills over two days. \nDespite our best efforts we may find ourselves lost or injured in the backcountry where help or rescue is not immediately available and all we have to rely on is our wits\, training and attitude to make it through safely. This comprehensive and fun two-day course goes into greater detail on the essential concepts of wilderness survival that will help you stack the odds in your favor including preparation\, prevention\, attitude\, shelter\, firecraft\, craftmanship\, water procurement\, knot tying\, aidless navigation and rescue signaling.  Most survival situations resolve within the first 72 hours so\, in this course\, our focus is on providing practical\, real-world skills to use if lost or injured in a wilderness setting to help you find your way to safety by self-rescue or rescue by others. Our two-day class provides participants with significantly more time than our one-day class to practice and gain proficiency in hands-on skills such as shelter building\, knots\, knife use and fire making. \nOur survival classes are held in the Cherokee National Forest and Appalachian Highlands of Northeast Tennessee\, with primary locations in the Erwin and Hampton areas.  Upon meeting our group\, we will make the easy short hike to camp (less than ~1/4 mile) and embark on a fun-filled\, empowering and memorable experience. Lead instructor is NOLI founder and former Ranger-qualified Army officer Scott Fisher who has been teaching wilderness skills for over 30 years. All equipment provided. Suitable both for those with and without experience. Minimum age is 10.  Specific meeting location varies by class but all sites are within 30 minutes of Johnson City.
