SUMMARY:Blountville Christmas Parade
DESCRIPTION:The annual Blountville Ruritan Christmas Parade will be Saturday\, December 14\, at 2:00 pm\, starting at Oak Street / Keystone Drive on the east side of town and ending at the old Sullivan County courthouse in downtown Blountville. \nLine-up for the parade begins about 1:00 pm. Participants should line up on Oak Street\, Cherry Street\, and Keystone Drive. Stay on one side of the street to allow traffic to continue to pass. Signage will be in place to help with line-up. \nFor those participating in the parade: Please do not have anyone dressed as Santa Claus. This is confusing to the kids who come to see Santa. The only Santa Claus in the parade is the real one who will be riding the wagon at the end. \nAnyone else seen dressed as Santa will be asked to remove their beard/coat/hat or whatever it takes so that they will not be confused with the official Santa. \nIf you have any questions\, please message us and we will try to respond promptly.

SUMMARY:Jonesborough: VictorianCard Making
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Chester Inn State Historic Site and Museum this holiday season to add some 19th Century flair to your celebrations! \n\nThis year we are featuring two special programs at the museum. On Saturday\, November 30 at 11:00 am and 1:30 pm we will be hosting a reading of Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas in our restored parlor room. We will also feature festive items from our archival collection and talk about the history of Victorian holiday celebration practices. Each reading will be approximately 45 minutes. \n\nOn Saturday\, December 14th from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm\, we will have a holiday card making event. We will supply the materials\, and visitors can stop in and make a holiday card inspired by the Victorian period. Both programs are designed to highlight important aspects of holiday celebration in the Victorian period: storytelling and sending cards. Both programs are also free and designed for all ages. \n\nIn addition to our programs we will have 19th century holiday decorations on display in our restored parlor\, dining\, and lodging rooms\, beginning the first week of December. The museum is open from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm on Fridays\, Saturdays\, and Mondays in November and December\, as well as from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sundays. It is open by appointment only on Tuesdays\, Wednesdays\, and Thursdays. There is no charge for admission to the museum or guided tours\, and the museum operates on donations. \n\nThis project is funded under an agreement with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation\, Tennessee Historical Commission. For more information on the Chester Inn State Historic Site and Museum or the Heritage Alliance\, please call our office at 423.753.9580 or the Chester Inn Museum at 423.753.4580. SUMMARY:Unicoi: Christmas Open House
DESCRIPTION:Unicoi To Host Christmas Open House December 13 \nUnicoi\, Tenn. — The Town of Unicoi will host its Christmas Open House at the Tourist Information\nCenter Friday\, December 13\, from noon to 2 p.m.\nThe visitor center\, located just off exit 32 in Unicoi\, will be decorated for the holiday season and the\nBuffalo Conference Room will be filled with scrumptious hors d’oeuvres from local restaurants\, Mountain\nHarvest Kitchen users and “home cooks” within the community.\n“I’m thrilled we have the opportunity to showcase some of the town’s amazing food offerings\,” said\nCommunications and Programs Director Ashley Shelton. “With specialties from our brick-and-mortar\nrestaurants to the many ‘home cooks’ within the community\, guests will have their fill of delicious food.”\nThe Tanasi Art Gallery\, located inside the visitor center\, will also be open for some last minute\nChristmas shopping and offers unique items handmade locally.\n“It’s great to have a place to display the local talent we have here in Unicoi\,” said Mayor Johnny Lynch.\n“Guests can find some really professional pieces in that gallery and that’s not something every small town can\nsay.”\nIn addition to one-of-a-kind gifts and tasty food\, visitors can also take a tour of the Mountain Harvest\nKitchen located next door. The food-business incubator is a regional economic development driver aimed at\nfostering entrepreneurship and enhancing the local food economy.\n“I think it will be neat for guests to be able to see the facility and sample the results at the visitor center\,”\nsaid Mountain Harvest Kitchen Director Lee Manning. “Our kitchen users work hard to grow their businesses\nand with the town as a client it really helps them get their products in front of a broader audience.”\n“We’re really proud of the kitchen and we want people to see the good it’s doing not only in the\ncommunity\, but all over the region\,” said Mayor Lynch.\nGuests are invited to stop by the Tourist Information Center anytime between noon and 2 p.m. and\nwhile RSVPs are appreciated\, they are not required.\nFor more information\, contact Patricia Bennett at (423) 735-0517 or email recreationaide@unicoitn.net.\nVisit UnicoiTN.net/events for a complete listing of all holiday activities within the Town of Unicoi.
