SUMMARY:Masterpiece Mingle
DESCRIPTION:Masterpiece Mingle at the McKinney Center \nThe popular event that brings together art\, music\, and great food will be returning to the McKinney Center this year on Friday\, April 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. “This is such a great way to showcase our local artists\, and introduce their work to the public.” The event also provides plenty of opportunities for art and music lovers to meet and mingle in a fun and elegant atmosphere as they admire the work of art they get to take home\, or even exchange with another adventurous guest. \n\nThis event\, which sold out well in advance last year\, will feature an exhibit of 125 different works of art\, and each guest will take one of these works home. The artwork\, which has been donated by regional artists\, include such mediums as watercolor\, acrylic\, ceramics\, fabric art\, jewelry\, woodwork\, and more. All pieces will be on display for guests to admire throughout the evening until the event is over\, and each guest takes their corresponding piece of art home with them. The fun part is\, that guests receive their artwork at random. Each artwork is assigned a number\, and each program the guest receives will correspond to one of those numbers. \n\nGuests can keep their original mystery masterpiece\, or find other guests with whom they may “swap.” Amid the fun atmosphere\, guests will enjoy live jazz music by a combo from the Jonesborough Rhythm Express. They will also enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres from Main Street Catering\, and a silent auction featuring more exquisite art. \n\nThis unique event serves as the signature annual fundraiser for the McKinney Center. Even though this event is a fundraiser\, organizers want the occasion accessible to everyone\, so ticket prices are set at a modest $45\, which includes the event and the original piece of art each guest will take home. \n\n\nTickets are limited to one-hundred twenty-five\, as this is the number of works of art that have been donated. To purchase tickets\, call the Visitor Center at 423.753.1010 or purchase online at Jonesborough.com/mingle

SUMMARY:Jonesborough: Donald Davis Storytelling Concert
DESCRIPTION:Master Storyteller\, Donald Davis\, Returns to Historic Jonesborough \nDonald Davis\, one of America’s favorite master storytellers\, is coming to the Historic Jonesborough Visitors Center on April 6 and 7 at 7:30 p.m. The two-night concert will feature Davis telling different stories each evening. \n\nDavis was born in a Southern Appalachian Mountain world that was rich in stories. “I didn’t learn stories\, I just absorbed them.” Davis says as he recounts tales learned from a family of traditional storytellers who lived on the same Western North Carolina land since 1781. \n\nBefore Davis hits the stage\, live music will be provided by Scott Wild\, an American singer/songwriter specializing in vintage folk rock. Then following the storytelling concert Davis will host a meet and greet for fans. \n\nDavis’ resume boasts numerous experiences including Davidson College\, Duke University Divinity School\, a retired Methodist minister and former chairperson of the board of Directors for the National Storytelling Association. He is a favorite at the National Storytelling Festival and has also served as a featured teller at the Smithsonian Institute\, the World’s Fair as well as festivals and concerts throughout the United States and the world. \n\nFor Donald Davis\, storytelling is a way of giving and living life. He invites each listener to come along\, pull deep inside for one’s own stories and personally share the common experiences that celebrate the creative spirit. For Donald Davis\, storytelling “is not what I do for a living\, but it is how I do all that I do while I am living.” \n\nEnjoy two nights of stories from Donald Davis with general admission each evening being $12. A special group rate for 15 or more people is available for $10 per person. For tickets or more information\, call 423.753.1010 or visit Jonesborough.com/tickets.
