SUMMARY:The Twelve Days of Christmas
DESCRIPTION:ABINGDON\, Va.— Today Barter Theatre announced their winter holiday season\, which includes A Christmas Story\, The Twelve Dates of Christmas\, and Jingle All the Way. A Christmas Story will be showing indoors at Gilliam stage from November 18th to December 29th\, while the other two productions will be shown at the Moonlite Drive-In for the entirety of their respective runs. The Twelve Dates of Christmas will run from November 26th to December 23rd\, and Jingle All the Way will be performed by the Barter Players from December 3rd to the 23rd. \nA Christmas Story follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker and his quest for the Holy Grail of Christmas gifts—an Official Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot Range Model air rifle— while he seems to be rebuffed at every turn! Jingle All the Way also follows the journey of an underestimated protagonist\, Jangle the Elf\, who is the twin brother of Santa’s #1 helper at the North Pole; Will he be able to prove himself and save Christmas all at the same time? The Twelve Dates of Christmas is a raucous one-woman show\, which turns the classic Christmas show experience on its head! After all\, how can one be in a holly jolly mood after catching their fiance kissing someone else on live television during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade? \nProducing Artistic Director of Barter Theatre\, Katy Brown\, is thrilled to be bringing Christmas back to the Gilliam Stage\, as well as sharing shows at the Moonlite Drive-In. “We are very excited to offer both viewing experiences for our patrons. It’s such a magical time of year for so many people\, and we’re proud to be a part of our community’s cherished traditions. There’s nothing like Barter at Christmas!” \nPatrons can purchase tickets for Barter’s Christmas season beginning on September 22nd\, as well as find out more information about safety measures being put into place\, by visiting Barter’s website: www.bartertheatre.com \n  \nAbout Barter Theatre \nBarter Theatre\, the nation’s longest running professional theatre\, is located in Abingdon\, Virginia. The theatre opened in 1933 during the Great Depression. Founder Robert Porterfield offered patrons admission to the theatre by bartering food and livestock. Barter Theatre was designated as the State Theatre of Virginia in 1946. It exists today as one of the last year-round professional resident repertory theaters remaining in the United States.  Barter Theatre is funded in part by The Virginia Commission for the Arts and The National Endowment for the Arts.

SUMMARY:Jefferson Starship
DESCRIPTION:Jefferson Starship\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThu\, December 2\, 2021\n\n\nDoors: 7:00 pm / Show: 8:00 pm\n\n\n$37 – $57 plus applicable taxes and fees / Members save up to $5 per ticket\n\nBUY TICKETS\n\n\nThe members of Jefferson Starship past and present have been exploring the mysteries of music for more than 1000 collective years. Give or take. But who’s counting?\n\nWhen founding member Paul Kantner formed Jefferson Starship in the ’70s\, he envisioned the band as a cast of musical adventurers\, contributing to his epic concept albums and eventual deep catalog of rock classics. When the current lineup of the band came together alongside Kantner as a unit in 2012\, with many members joining years before\, he couldn’t have imagined that the band would become the road-conquering heroes they’ve been in the last few years.\n\nJefferson Starship’s five members describe themselves as both a “family” and a “gang\,” and that comes across in talking to them\, and in their robust live performances\, which have taken them to all 50 U.S. states.\, five continents\, and too many countries to list here (a recent tour of New Zealand was mentioned among the band’s favorites)\, drawing from a massive setlist of hit after hit. \nIn addition to original member David Freiberg\, the band includes drummer Donny Baldwin (whose Jefferson Starship roots go back to 1982)\, keyboardist Chris Smith (who joined in 1998)\, guitarist Jude Gold (who joined in 2012)\, and singer and guitarist Cathy Richardson who joined in 2008\, after Kantner saw her tour with Big Brother and the Holding Company. \nAs Jefferson Starship approaches their 50th anniversary\, the group’s members look to the future with the word Kantner\, who unfortunately died in 2016\, used to say to them all the time: “Onward.” \n“To me that exploration — that Paul Kantner thing of just getting on a rocket ship and firing it as hard as it will go\, and taking off and exploring the cosmos and the music\, and everything in between — is really the spirit of Jefferson Starship\, and that’s very much alive in the band today\,” Gold says. “And that comes straight from Paul. And always has.”

SUMMARY:Very Merry Christmas Tour: NewSong and Big Daddy Weave
DESCRIPTION:NewSong and Big Daddy Weave Join Forces for the Very Merry Christmas Tour and More at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center December 3 \n\n\nGREENEVILLE\, Tenn – Grammy® nominated Christian music icons NewSong and Big Daddy Weave welcome you to this years’ “Very Merry Christmas and More Tour.” One of Christian music’s favorite holiday outings\, the concert is a night full of music\, laughter\, joy\, and remembering Christ’s birth and what that means to all of us.\n\nNewSong’s career spans over 40 years\, 19 studio albums and 20 #1 radio singles\, and they launched one of the biggest tours in the world\, Winter Jam.  The band has been reaching listeners with their inspirational music since they first formed together nearly thirty years ago. The group began as a nine-member church band for Morningside Baptist Church in Valdosta\, Georgia. Throughout the years\, the band has released a variety of songs including: “Can’t Keep A Good Man Down\,” “Jesus To The World” (Roaring Lambs)\, “Arise My Love\,” “The Christmas Shoes\,” and “Swallow The Ocean\,” off their album of the same title.\n\nKnown for honest songs that tell personal stories of freedom in Christ\, Big Daddy Weave fans have long admired the band for their particular brand of real-life\, real-person openness. With songs like “My Story\,” “The Lion and the Lamb\,” “Overwhelmed\,” “I Know\,” and “Redeemed\,” Big Daddy Weave has cemented its status as one of the most beloved bands in Christian music. Millions have taken their anthems of Jesus’s chain-breaking love as their own and sung along to songs about the radical act of redemption. But while creating the album\, When the Light Comes\, the men of Big Daddy Weave\, Mike Weaver (lead vocals\, guitar)\, Jay Weaver (bass\, vocals)\, Jeremy Redmon (guitar\, vocals)\, Joe Shirk (saxophone\, keys\, vocals) and Brian Beihl (drums)\, found themselves working from a new and unfamiliar place. The inspirational themes and uplifting messages many find in the group’s music were desperately needed by the members themselves.\n\nCome worship with NewSong and Big Daddy Weave on Friday\, December 3 at 7:30 PM. Groups of 20 or more receive a 20% discount when purchased together. Tickets start at only $30 and are available online at www.npacgreeneville.com\, in person at the NPAC box office\, or by phone at 423-638-1679.
