SUMMARY:Niswonger Performing Arts Center: The Guess Who
DESCRIPTION:The Guess Who\n\n\n\n\nLegendary Canadian band\, The Guess Who\, enjoyed chart topping hits in the late 60s and early 70s with an impressive catalog of songs including “American Woman\,” “These Eyes\,” and “No Time.” During the course of its career\, the band has released 11 studio albums\, and charted 14 Top 40 hit singles\, two of which went to No. 1 in the United States. \nThe most recent and up-to-date version of the band has mastered a wildly entertaining romp through the early hits mixed in with their current creations\, while managing to take the whole experience to a new level. It’s sophisticated\, searingly emotional and musically eclectic\, while remaining eminently singalongable. The Guess Who never leave anything less than their hearts on the stage at the end of every performance.

SUMMARY:Niswonger Performing Arts Center: Rhonda Vincent
DESCRIPTION:Rhonda Vincent\n\n\n\n\nRhonda Vincent is a firecracker of talent that powers one of the hottest bands in any genre of music today. From humble beginnings in the tiny town of Greentop\, Missouri\, Rhonda’s musical heritage traces back five generations of the Vincent family. She began her professional music career singing in her family’s band\, The Sally Mountain Show\, and picked up the mandolin at eight and the fiddle at twelve. By her teenage years\, Rhonda had appeared on the Grand Ole Opry. \nRhonda’s life of music evolved into a successful career in bluegrass music but it was her pivotal bluegrass album Back Home Again that transformed Rhonda Vincent into the All American Bluegrass Girl\, and crowned the New Queen of Bluegrass by The Wall Street Journal in 2000. Rhonda was officially inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry in February 2021.

Join Jonesborough for the qualifying round at the International Storytelling Center on Friday\, February 2 from 7 to 9 p.m. The picturesque setting of Tennessee’s oldest town\, positioned in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains\, makes for a musical experience like no other. What better place than the Storytelling Capital of the World to share your stories through song. \nApplications are now available for songwriters to sign up to perform and can be found by visiting jonesborough.com/tnsongwriters. \n\nWinners of the qualifying rounds will advance to showcase events at Lafayette’s Music Room in Memphis\, The Bijou Theatre in Knoxville\, Songbirds Guitar & Pop Culture Museum in Chattanooga\, Ole Red in Gatlinburg\, The Down Home in Johnson City\, Temple Theatre in Portland\, and Franklin Theatre. In addition\, the seven showcase finalists will earn prizes\, including performing at the historic Bluebird Cafe\, a one-year-membership to Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) and a branded commemorative Taylor guitar. \nSongs will be judged by quality of the song (original lyrics/melody and clear narrative) and performance (ability to understand lyrics and connection with the audience). \nA state statute designated the last full week of February each year as Tennessee Songwriters Week\, which is traditionally a slow month for travel. The mission of the initiative is to support music venues\, generate awareness of songwriters’ contributions to Tennessee\, pave the way for future artists\, inspire travelers to experience the state’s music stories\, history\, attractions and venues and drive revenue for music venues devasted by the pandemic. \nFor more information about TN Songwriters Week qualifying round in Jonesborough\, visit jonesborough.com/tnsongwriters. \n\n### \nAbout the Town of Jonesborough: A unique 18th century town nestled in the Appalachian Mountains of Northeast Tennessee\, Jonesborough’s natural beauty\, charming architecture\, and storytelling heritage have attracted visitors worldwide.
