SUMMARY:Warriors’ Path State Park Summer Events
DESCRIPTION:Warriors’ Path State Park Summer Events  \nWe hope you will enjoy your visit! While you are with us\, we invite you to take advantage of the rich natural beauty and wealth of opportunities for enjoying outdoor recreation here at the park. \nTUESDAY AUGUST 3 \n4:00 PM RIVERBANK STROLL -This green river valley has seen generations of travelers. This evening\, we’ll travel together\, and search for signs of the wildlife and the people who came before us. Meet at the main bathhouse. \n7:00 PM TREE TOOLS – How big is that tree? How old is it? What wildlife could be hiding in it? Come see and try out some of the tools that foresters use to study and protect our native trees. Meet at the Open Air Chapel*\, or main bathhouse if it is raining. \n8:30 PM FOREST TREES – Take a “hike” from the comfort of your seat. Enjoy a “tour” of our nearby forest habitats using words and pictures. After the slide show\, we’ll share a demonstration of how to identify our local trees. Meet at the Open Air Chapel*\, or pool entrance if it is raining. \nWEDNESDAY AUGUST 4 \n9:00 AM WAKE UP WALK – Let’s wake up our senses to morning in the forest. Meet at the main bathhouse for a refreshing morning walk. \n11:30 AM PLANKTON – For us\, the lake is a place to go boating or fishing. But for the micro-world of plankton\, it’s a home. Come help us sample this incredible world of tiny lives floating in lake water. Meet at the main bathhouse\, and we’ll stroll on down to the shore. \n4:00 PM SPOTLIGHT WALK – Let’s shine our light on some bright natural discoveries. Meet at the camp store to begin a short\, sunlit walk. \n7:00 PM BIRDS OF PREY – Meet some real live feathered hunters. Come to the Open Air Chapel* and see “whooo…” is waiting for you. If it is raining\, meet at the main bathhouse. \nTHURSDAY AUGUST 5 \n7:30 AM BIRDING BY EAR – “Listen in” to the voices of our feathered neighbors. Bird songs are more than just pretty music! Join us as we enjoy the morning “bird concert\,” and learn to recognize the songs and calls of our common East Tennessee birds. Bring your ears and your curiosity to the Duck Island Kiosk (between the parking lot and the recreation building) \n9:30 AM HIKE THE “DARWIN’S REVENGE” TRAIL – It may have a very strange name\, but it is an awesome trail! Come spend several hours in one of the most beautiful and wildest parts of the park. Be sure to wear good walking shoes\, comfortable clothes\, and bring some drinking water. Drive to the camp store and we’ll carpool. \n6:00 PM WILDLIFE TRACKING – You can be a wildlife detective! Learn to read the tracks\, scats\, and other signs of our nearby wild creatures. Park staff (and a small native animal) will be at the Open Air Chapel* so you can have a chance to meet our 4-legged friend and enjoy his tracking lesson. (In case of rain\, meet at the main bathhouse.) \n8:30 PM LAMP-LIT NIGHT HIKE – Take a “de-light-full” hike through the nighttime forest. We’ll light up the trail with old-timey kerosene lanterns\, and discover a “new world” of life after dark. We’ll supply the lanterns\, but children should bring flashlights instead for safety. Meet at the park’s Mt Bike Trail parking area (at the end of Freeman Road\, Blountville TN). \nFRIDAY\, AUGUST 6 \n9:00 AM RIPARIAN HIKE – “Riparian” means “along the creek bank.” It also means an extra-rich wildlife habitat! Come along for an “extra cool” hike near Fall Creek. Drive to the camp store\, and we’ll carpool. \n3:30 PM SEED RACES – Wind\, water\, and animals carry seeds of new trees and plants all across the land. Our “wind” can help too! Meet at the Open Air Chapel* to show off your “hot air” and plant some new life. Meet at the main bathhouse if it rains. \n7:00 PM NATURE GAMES – Don’t miss the natural fun – for the young or the young-at-heart! Meet at the Open Air Chapel* for some lively games about our natural world. If it’s raining\, meet at the main bathhouse. \n8:30 PM TENNESSEE SEASONS – Enjoy a tour of all four seasons in the hills of Tennessee.
