SUMMARY:Jonesborough: Celebration of Trees
DESCRIPTION:Twinkling lights\, the scent of Fraser firs\, handcrafted ornaments and Christmas decorations are filling the shops and store fronts of downtown Jonesborough. The annual Celebration of Trees\, a unique exhibit of beautifully decorated Christmas trees\, will be held in Historic Jonesborough on December 5 through December 26. \nThis year’s exhibit begins at the Historic Jonesborough Visitors Center\, located at 117 Boone Street\, where seven beautifully decorated live trees will be on display within the Old Town Emporium Gift Shop. These trees are all sponsored and decorated by area businesses and non-profit organizations. Participants can pick up a program which features a listing of locations throughout the historic district where they can view over 30 decorated trees. \nThe celebration of trees has been a Jonesborough tradition for over 30 years. Growing over the years\, it is now become an event that stretches from the Jonesborough Visitors Center to the Jonesborough Senior Center to the Chuckey Depot Museum on 2nd Ave. The exhibit features many spots in between as well including Boone Street Market\, Gabriel’s Christmas\, Mill Spring Park Gazebo\, McKinney Center and many others. \nThe exhibit is free and open to the public Monday\, December 5 through Monday\, December 26. Exhibit programs are located at the Jonesborough Visitors Center and the International Storytelling Center. This year the program will double as a ballot where attendees can vote for the “People’s Choice Award” for the best decorated tree in town. All locations are open to public viewing during their normal operating hours. \nFor additional information on the Celebration of Trees\, contact the Historic Jonesborough Visitors Center at 423.753.1010. \n### \nAbout the Town of Jonesborough: A unique 18th century town nestled in the Appalachian Mountains of Northeast Tennessee\, Jonesborough’s natural beauty\, charming architecture\, and storytelling heritage have attracted visitors worldwide. SUMMARY:Morgan Wade to perform at Bristol's Paramount Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Morgan Wade didn’t write to be a sensation\, for critical acclaim or massive concert tours. She wrote to speak her truth\, to save her own life – and perhaps throw a rope to others struggling with the weight of a world moving too fast\, loves where you fall too hard and nights that\, good or bad\, seem to go on forever. A Blue Ridge Mountain girl willing to put her whole truth out there as an artist without flinching – and as a performer who gives it all away onstage – Wade has a voice The FADER lauds is “like a jagged blade\, sharp enough to draw blood but lustrous under the light” while The New York Times declares “she sounds like she’s singing from the depths of history.” The old soul writer understands chaos\, compulsion and letting go in a way most people will never experience; with her songs\, she brings listeners inside the rollercoaster ride of euphoria\, emptiness and exile with a soft touch and deep truth. With her unabashed debut album Reckless\, she landed on various Best Album and Songs of 2021 rankings from TIME\, Rolling Stone\, The New York Times\, Stereogum\, The FADER\, Tennessean\, Boston Globe\, and more. Produced by Jason Isbell + the 400 Unit guitarist Sadler Vaden and Paul Ebersold\, the trio worked to create a song cycle that pulled the lean rock of Tom Petty through a modern take on country — and achieved a No. 1 on SiriusXM The Highway’s Top 30 Countdown with debut single “Wilder Days.” Having reached radio’s Top 30 with the acoustic guitar-driven track\, Reckless (Deluxe Edition)\, available now\, expands the conversation with six additional tracks\, including a scalding\, heart beating read on Elvis’ Presley’s “Suspicious Minds” and desperate “The Night” – Wade’s first release. Having toured with Lucero last fall\, she joins Luke Combs\, Chris Stapleton\, Brooks & Dunn\, and more on the road throughout

SUMMARY:Erwin Candlelight Nativity Parade
DESCRIPTION:Hundreds of little shepherds and angels will flow down Main Street singing traditional Christmas songs and lighting the way with candlelight for sheep and other animals as they search for the star of Bethlehem. The scene will be set to link activity to the First Baptist Church of Erwin as the shepherds and angels arrive to see Mary\, Joseph\, and the wise men with baby Jesus. Spectators and onlookers can join in on the reverent event and follow the holy family to the manger while singing familiar carols along the way.\n\nThe Erwin Candlelight Nativity Parade is free and open to the public and will take place on Wednesday\, December 21st at 7:00pm. Everyone is encouraged to participate\, and we ask that you bring a small white candle from home to fill the street with candlelight. We are looking for hundreds of angels\, shepherds and carolers of all ages willing to spread love and light to our entire town. Participants (including church groups) looking to join the parade should please meet at the Erwin Post Office parking lot by no later than 6:15 pm.\n\n\nContact Jamie Rice at 423.220.7624 for any further questions
