SUMMARY:Jonesborough: History Happy Hour
DESCRIPTION:History Happy Hour is returning to the Chester Inn State Historic Site and Museum for its 3rd year! \n  \nOur first presenter this year is Casey Price\, a graduate student currently pursuing his Master’s degree in East Tennessee State University’s history department. His presentation is titled “Women\, Gender\, and the Spatial Construction of Upper East Tennessee.” According to Mr. Price\, “Evidence suggests that women heavily influenced Upper East Tennessee’s settlement and economic development patterns and\, in doing so\, helped determine the spatial outlay of early frontier Upper East Tennessee that proved remarkably resistant to state control.” \n  \nHistory Happy Hour\, which began in 2017\, is a collaboration between the Chester Inn State Historic Site and Museum and various regional institutions. Guest speakers cover a wide range of regional historical topics. In 2019 our guest speakers will cover Samuel Doak’s Lectures on Human Nature\, Material Culture\, National Cemeteries\, and the Jonesborough-Asheville Road\, among other subjects. This year we have added some new institutions to the schedule including Milligan College and David Crockett Birthplace. There are also many returning favorites including Tusculum University\, Walters State Community College\, ETSU\, and Andrew Johnson National Historic Site. You can find a full schedule online or by visiting the Chester Inn Museum! \n  \nHistory Happy Hour takes place the third Thursday of the month at 6:30pm at the Chester Inn Museum. \n  \nThe Chester Inn is a Tennessee Historical Commission State-Owned Historic Site. This project is funded under an agreement with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation\, Tennessee Historical Commission \n  \nFor more information on the Chester Inn State Historic Site and Museum\, History Happy Hour\, or the Heritage Alliance please call our office at 423.753.9580 or the Chester Inn Museum at 423.753.4580.  You can also contact the organization via email at info@heritageall.org.  Additional information about the Heritage Alliance and its mission can be found online at https://www.heritageall.org/. Be sure to follow the Chester Inn and Heritage Alliance Facebook pages for updates about events and other Heritage Alliance programs. \n
