SUMMARY:3rd Saturday Hiking with Tools
DESCRIPTION:Contact: Kim Peters\, 423-366-0128 \nThis month we will be hiking out to Vandeventer Shelter to replace the graffiti board which has gone missing. The board is a little awkward to carry\, so it would be nice to have a couple of folks to help out with that. Along the way\, we may lop back a few rhododendron and may even paint a few blazes if this nice spring weather continues. It is 4.7 miles out to the shelter (and of course 4.7 miles back!) so this will be a longish day. \nAll materials and tools will be provided\, volunteers only need to bring sufficient food and water for the day and wear appropriate clothing for the weather including sturdy walking shoes and long pants. Work gloves are also desirable. \nWe will meet in front of the Parkway Discount Wine and Liquor Store on South Roan Street in Johnson City at 8:30 am to carpool to Wilbur Dam Road. Other meeting places can be arranged with prior notice.\nPlease let me know if you are planning to participate and where you would like to meet by Wednesday\, April 17. \nContact Kim Peters (atmaint@tehcc.org ) for hike details\, including meeting time and place.

SUMMARY:Jonesborough Yarn Exchange
DESCRIPTION:Comedy Night at the Yarn Exchange Radio Show | April 22\, 7pm \n\nEmbarrassing moments. We all have them. This month\, the Yarn Exchange has collected some timeless and classic moments we wish we could relive and (do over) for a fun and exciting evening of laughter. \n\nMost of the stories submitted this month fall under the category of “anonymous teller.” However\, there are enough clues\, if one listens closely enough\, to figure out to whom these mortifying moments belong. \n\nWho sat in the backseat of a Packard with the family goat\, trying to hide his face from his friends as his father drove down Main Street? What principal’s daughter ended up having the police called to her dorm room\, when she was only trying to read Socrates? What chaplain of the Daughters of the American Revolution got caught in the liquor store? These stories and other historical hijinks from Jonesborough’s past will be presented on stage at the International Storytelling Center on April 22. \n\nThe production\, staged as an old-time radio show\, will begin at 7PM. Seating is limited\, and advance reservations are recommended. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased online at jonesborough.com/tickets\, or by calling the Jonesborough Visitors Center at 423-753-1010. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission.
