Allen and his wife\, Marianne (both of them born and raised in GA) have two children\, and as of October 11\, one grandchild. \n\nVincent M. Dial is a native of Columbia\, South Carolina. In January 1976 Vincent began his professional teaching career in the Johnson City School System serving as director of bands at many Johnson City schools and continued employment and music teacher work for many years until retirement in June 2007 after serving as Assistant Principal. In April 1994\, Vincent acknowledged the internal move of the Holy Spirit to receive and accept without reservation his call to proclaim and to disciple others in the “Gospel of Jesus Christ” and from 1999 to present\, has served as Senior Pastor at Bethel Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Jonesborough\, Tennessee. He and his wife Mary reside in Johnson City\, Tennessee. They have three children\, and four grandchildren. \n\nThis monthly series is inspired by the Diversity & Equity Subcommittee at the McKinney Center’s desire to highlight the experiences of all voices in Washington County\, Tennessee\, with an intention to include marginalized groups. By showcasing these conversations\, the Diversity & Inclusion committee hopes to open doors to new ideas and perspectives amongst our very own neighbors. Questions such as\, “What was your experience in grade-school and how did that make you feel?” or\, “have you experienced exclusion or racism?” For many of us the answers are different and unique. The McKinney Center believes it is time to talk about our experiences and share them. \n\nThere is value in uplifting these stories so that we may learn from one another. Then\, after hearing from one another our moderators and guest conversationalists will give insight on how to move forward. Visit mckinneycenter.com to register for this events. For more information\, please call the McKinney Center at 423.753.0562.

SUMMARY:A Spot on the Hill: On the Air!
DESCRIPTION:The popular annual play A Spot on the Hill\, written by Heritage Alliance director Anne G’Fellers-Mason\, usually performs before sold-out crowds at the historic cemetery in Jonesborough\, and features stories about the people buried there. This year\, due to COVID-19\, the cast was unable to perform as usual. However\, the Heritage Alliance is partnering with the StoryTown Radio Show this month to present a combined production: A Spot on the Hill: On the Air! \n\n“Anne and I have collaborated on so many projects together. When I heard that she was not going to be able to do her production\, I realized that our monthly StoryTown Radio Show and Podcast could provide an opportunity for the play to still take place- but as a radio style program\,” explained Jules Corriere\, McKinney Center Outreach Program Director and the writer and director of the StoryTown series. \n\nWhen Corriere presented the idea to Mason\, they both agreed it would be a great opportunity. The cast of A Spot on the Hill\, many of whom are regular performers on the StoryTown Radio Show and Podcast\, will perform their play after all. Corriere will book-end the performance with two or three local ghost stories to round out the hour\, and the production will be presented as a livestream on the StoryTown Facebook page as well as its own podcast episode on the StoryTown podcast channel. \n\n“I’m really happy that this important and creative work by the Heritage Alliance will still be presented\, even if it is in a different format. I really support the work of the Heritage Alliance\, and all they do for the community\,” continued Corriere\, who served for six years on the Board of Trustees for the organization. \n\nThe Livestream event will take place virtually on Monday\, October 26 at 7 p.m. The audio version will air on WETS 89.5 FM Johnson City on Wednesday\, October 28 at 8 p.m.\, and the podcast will be available starting Friday\, October 30 on the StoryTown podcast\, wherever you listen to podcasts. \n\nThe StoryTown Radio Show is sponsored in part by a grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission\, and is a project out of the McKinney Center and Jonesborough’s Mary B. Martin Program for the Arts.
