SUMMARY:Stories 'n More
DESCRIPTION:If you’re looking for the heart of storytelling in the town that basically invented the modern revival of the art\, Stories ‘n More is where the magic happens. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHosted by the Jonesborough Storytellers Guild\, this weekly event is a staple of Tuesday nights in Tennessee’s oldest town. It’s less of a formal performance and more of a warm\, communal gathering where the oral tradition truly breathes. \n\n\nThe Atmosphere\nThe vibe is intimate and authentic. Held at the International Storytelling Center (or occasionally nearby local venues like the  McKinney Center)\, the evening feels like sitting in a very large\, very talented living room. \nWhat to Expect\n\n\nDiverse Tellers: You’ll hear from seasoned professionals who have graced national stages\, alongside guild members honing new material. \n\n\nThe “More” in the Name: While the focus is on spoken-word stories\, you’ll often find the night peppered with poetry\, acoustic music\, or personal tall tales. \n\n\nA Living Art: Unlike a recorded podcast\, these stories change based on the energy of the room. It’s interactive\, raw\, and deeply human. \n\n\nThe Details\n\n\nWhen: Every Tuesday night. \n\n\nTime: Usually kicks off at 7:00 PM. \n\n\nLocation: International Storytelling Center\, Jonesborough\, TN. \n\n\nCost: Generally\, a small donation is suggested at the door to support the Guild’s mission. \n\n\n\n\nPro Tip: Jonesborough takes its storytelling seriously\, but the Guild keeps it accessible. Whether you’re a local or just passing through\, it’s one of the most “authentic” Appalachian experiences you can find without needing to hike a trail.

SUMMARY:Banjo Romantika
DESCRIPTION:The Jackson Theatre is partnering with East Tennessee State University’s Departments of Bluegrass\, Old Time & Roots Music and Media & Communication to present a special 10-year anniversary screening and concert event for Banjo Romantika on February 8 at 3:00 PM. \n\nThe documentary was produced by ETSU faculty members Dr. Shara K. Lange (Radio/TV/Film) and Dr. Lee Bidgood (Bluegrass\, Old Time & Roots Music). Banjo Romantika introduces audiences to a unique bluegrass tradition that developed in the Czech Republic. \n\nCzechs first encountered bluegrass during World War II through broadcasts of American music\, a sound that came to represent freedom and self-expression under communist rule. That connection deepened when Pete Seeger visited and performed in 1964. \n\nDrawing from classic American bluegrass\, musicians across the formerly communist Czech Republic blended history\, politics\, and personal storytelling into a lively musical tradition entirely their own. The film highlights the artists who helped shape this movement and the cultural exchange behind it. \nThe event will begin with a live bluegrass performance as guests arrive and get settled\, followed by the screening of Banjo Romantika. A Q&A session will take place after the film\, offering audiences a chance to dive deeper into the story and creative process. \n\nThis special event celebrates the lasting impact of bluegrass across borders and highlights the powerful ways music connects people and cultures. \nFor more information about Banjo Romantika\, visit banjoromantika.com. \n\nTickets are on sale now at www.thejacksontheatre.com. Follow @thejacksontheatre on social media for updates and upcoming events.\n\n##### \n\nAbout The Jackson Theatre: The Jackson Theatre is a fully restored theatre in the heart of historic downtown Jonesborough. Serving as a vibrant hub for the arts\, it now operates as a music venue\, theater\, and film house\, bringing entertainment and culture to the community again.

SUMMARY:38 Special
DESCRIPTION:38 Special\nAfter five decades\, 38 SPECIAL continues to bring their signature blast of Southern rock to over 100 cities a year\, thrilling thousands of fans with the explosive power of their live shows. Their Gold and Platinum album awards stand as a testament to the endurance of this legendary powerhouse. \nWith sales exceeding 20 million\, the band is best known for arena-rock radio staples like “Hold On Loosely\,” “Rockin’ Into the Night\,” “Caught Up in You\,” “Fantasy Girl\,” “Chain Lightnin’\,” and “Second Chance”—timeless hits immediately recognizable from their opening chords and still going strong on airwaves today. Guitarist/vocalist and founding member Don Barnes says it’s all about maintaining that live intensity: “We never wanted to be one of those bands that had maybe gotten a little soft or complacent over the years.
