DESCRIPTION:Enjoy an evening under the stars\, floating along the Bays Mountain Reservoir\, safely from the comfort of your own kayak. It’ll be a cool and relaxing evening like no other.\n\nBays Mountain Park is pleased to bring back the kayak stargazing program this spring. The program is an astronomy class with a twist where you’ll learn about the constellations\, the Moon and the viewable planets with the naked eye.\n\nKayak Stargazing programs will be held from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on April 14\, 16 and 21\, and from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on May 7\, 12 and 14. The cost is $5 for park members and $10 for non-members. Each program is limited to 20 boats so be sure to sign up early.\n\nParticipants are required to bring their own kayak\, canoe or stand-up paddleboard and paddling equipment\, along with a Type III personal flotation device. SUMMARY:Yoga in the Planetarium
DESCRIPTION:The Bays Mountain Park Association has partnered with a local yoga instructor to offer residents a series of yoga classes inside the park’s planetarium theater this spring.\nThe following classes will be held beginning in March:\n–          Winter Planetarium Yoga: March 6 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.\n–          Spring Equinox Yoga: March 21 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.\n–          Spring Planetarium Yoga: April 3 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.\n–          Earth Day Yoga: April 22 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.\n–          Mother’s Day Yoga: May 9 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.\nFinally\, a special Yoga on the Barge session will be held on May 23 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. (weather permitting).\nFrom dawn to dusk\, the planetarium will feature a Sun and Moon that simulates a day’s journey in 30 minutes while performing Sun Salutations\, Warrior series and balance poses.\nConcentric\, eccentric and isometric contractions will be featured so students can work to optimize both their strength and balance as well as their mobility. Finally\, the sessions conclude with a relaxing starry night sky for the remaining 10 minutes of the class.\nEach class is approximately 45 minutes in length\, and the cost is $12 per person. Class size is limited to 9 people. Participants of all levels are welcome to attend. SUMMARY:Kids at Bays Day
DESCRIPTION:Bays Mountain Park hosts annual “Kids at Bays Day”\nBays Mountain Park is hosting its annual Kids at Bays Day next month where children of all ages will enjoy the great outdoors while participating in a variety of fun and engaging activities at the park.\nKids at Bays Day will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 16. All of the animal habitats\, hiking and biking trails and the Nature Center will be open for discovery and exploration. Folks looking for a tasty snack or meal can visit the La Abejita food truck\, which will be on site for the duration of the event.\nThe park will also be celebrating its 55th anniversary that day and unveil its new Astronomy Exhibit in the Nature Center beginning at 10 a.m.\nAll of the following events are free with a $7 paid entrance fee:\n\nAnimal Encounters: 10 – 11 a.m. and 1:30 – 3 p.m. at the animal habitats\nAstronomy: 10:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the Lily Pad Pavilion\nFishing: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1 – 3 p.m. at the dam\nGardening: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Farmstead Museum\nLake Exploring: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. near the dam\nMake a Mountain Toy: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Farmstead Museum\nRock Painting: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Farmstead Museum\nSolar Viewing: 3 – 3:30 p.m. by the dam\nStarWatch: The observatory will offer a night view of the sky from 8:30 – 9:30 p.m.\n\n(This schedule is tentative and subject to change.)\n“Kids at Bays Day is one of our most popular events all year and is a great kickoff for the summer outdoor season\,” said Miranda Wanninger\, chief ranger of visitor engagement. “We’ll have a variety of programs happening all across the park that day\, so no matter your interests we should have something for you to be excited about.”\nIn addition to the free programs\, the park will also have its usual paid programs on May 16. Barge rides and planetarium shows are $6 per person. Tickets can be purchased online or in the gift shop.
