SUMMARY:Bristol Border Bash
DESCRIPTION:Border Bash to Host The Wilson Springs Hotel and Appalachian Roulette \nin First Show of the Summer Concert Series \n  \nBristol\, VA-TN (June 10\, 2026) – Set in Historic Downtown Bristol TN/VA\, the first of five “bashes” of the year will take place Friday\, June 12\, 2026\, at The Downtown Center & 800 Block of State Street.  Border Bash will start with children’s activities\, local arts and craft vendors\, and concessions at 6:00 PM. Live music begins at approximately 6:30 PM and 7:30 PM.  As always\, Border Bash is free to the public! \n6:30 PM – Appalachian Roulette is new music for old souls. If you find yourself on the edge of a ridge deep in Southwest Virginia on a foggy night\, turn up the volume\, and everything will be alright. You can hear the influence of Appalachian Roulette’s roots in old time\, bluegrass and gospel found along The Crooked Road\, but the original material of this group\, featuring three songwriters\, will take you to the fringe of southern rock\, country\, and blues. This band features the talents of Brett Morris of Galax\, Virginia (vocals\, guitar\, bass)\, Carl Brickey of Bristol\, TN (lead guitar\, vocals)\, Levi Trent of Bristol\, VA (drums)\, and Mallory Blackwood of Woodlawn\, VA (vocals\, guitar\, bass). This dynamic trio will take you from the bar room back to church\, where the heart remains. \n7:30 PM – The Wilson Springs Hotel is a Virginia-based five-piece known for their genre-blending sound that fuses folk\, rock & roll\, bluegrass\, and classic country into a high-energy live experience. Since forming in 2021\, the band has built a devoted following through relentless touring\, standout festival appearances at DelFest\, FloydFest\, and Rooster Walk\, and a reputation for dynamic performances packed with storytelling\, humor\, and raw emotion. Named after a historic hotel in Lexington\, Virginia\, the group pairs thoughtful songwriting with a driving\, crowd-pleasing sound that explores themes of love\, loss\, personal growth\, and the beauty and darkness that come with being alive. Their newest record\, The Day the Bloodroot Bloomed\, released in 2026\, continues to showcase the band’s evolving sound and emotionally rich songwriting. \nFood truck concessions for this Border Bash will be Brunch Box\, EZ Squeezy\, Snapp’s Craft\, and Sunset Slush. \nLocal artisans and businesses offering a booth at this event will be AR Workshop\, Birthplace of Country Music\, Club America\, Sunflower Box Permanent Jewelry\, Threaded Blossom Gifts. \nChildren’s activities generously provided by Just Jump\, The Travelling Bear Indoor Mini Golf\, Appalachian Literacy Initiative\, and Believe in Bristol. \nFor more information\, please visit believeinbristol.org or contact us at 423-573-2201 or info@believeinbristol.org.

SUMMARY:Journey’s End
DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday\, December 16th at 6:00 PM\, Journey’s End will take place in Historic Downtown Bristol.  Journey’s End is Bristol’s local interpretation of the Latino tradition of Las Posadas (The Inns). Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem is recreated as they go from inn to inn seeking lodging and the final inn welcomes them in and celebrates their arrival. \n  \nHow does Bristol Celebrate Journey’s End? \nOur inns are several downtown businesses and our innkeepers are various choirs and choral groups from the Bristol area. We will begin at the Downtown Center then process by candlelight with Mary and Joseph singing the traditional songs and various carols accompanied by instrumentalists. Along the way choirs at each “inn” will greet Joseph and Mary who will be escorted by Dreamland Alpacas (Please\, no dogs in attendance as we do not want to scare the live animals). \n  \nThis year Mary will be played by Lotte Gendel and Joseph will be T. Rex Meredith. Along the way choirs at each “inn” will greet Joseph and Mary; Highlands Youth Ensemble will be at Shanghai; Central Presbyterian Church at Cameo Theatre; Appalachian Men’s Ensemble at Stateline Bar & Grille; Summit Chamber Singers at Cranberry Lane; Theatre Bristol at the Former French Magnolia\, and First Presbyterian Church at Paramount Bristol. \n  \nAfterwards a small reception will be held at The Paramount Center for the Arts with refreshments provided by King University and Metz Food Service as well as Bristol Bagel & Bakery. There will be no street closure for this event\, and event participants are to remain on the sidewalk for the duration of the event. \n  \nA special thank you to the Cities of Bristol\, Rev. Ann Aichinger\, Pete Buhls\, Robert Campbelle\, Dr. Noah DeLong\, Rev. Dr. Gary Eller\, Dr. Pat Flannagan\, Samantha Gray\, Bob Greene\, David and Debbie McLeish of Dreamland Alpacas\, Theatre Bristol\, Jane Morison\, Dr. Hannah Ryan\, Sullins Academy students and Zamantha Urdanivia\, King University Food Service\, METZ CORP for providing cookies\, Bristol Bagel & Bakery for providing hot chocolate\, and primary event sponsor for the evening is Believe in Bristol for providing luminaries and helping hands. \n  \nBe sure to stick around after Journey’s End for Bristol Virginia Senior Show Choir’s annual Christmas Show\, a beloved holiday tradition at The Paramount. This year’s show features holiday magic and pageantry along with familiar songs of the season. \n  \nJourney’s End lasts a little more than an hour. Restaurants will be taking dinner reservations and several of the downtown shops will be open.  Come and celebrate Christmas in the heart of our community! \n  \nPlease visit believeinbristol.org or call 423-573-2201 for more information.

SUMMARY:Bristol Border Bash
DESCRIPTION:Set in Historic Downtown Bristol TN/VA\, the second of five “bashes” of the year will take place Friday\, June 27th\, at the 400 & 500 Blocks of State Street.  Border Bash will start with children’s activities\, local arts and craft vendors\, and concessions at 6:00 PM. Live music begins at approximately 6:30 PM and 7:30 PM.  As always\, Border Bash is free to the public! \n6:30 PM – Craig Street Ramblers are a dynamic Americana band from Norton\, Virginia\, known for blending country\, blues\, and southern gospel with deep Appalachian roots. Founded in 2010 by Jacob Fields and Joshua Wingate\, the band draws inspiration from their early musical experiences in church and the cultural heritage of the coalfields. \nTheir heartfelt sound has led to collaborations with artists like Dave Eggar\, Amber Rubarth\, and Max ZT. With standout singles like “Waiting\,” “Count On Me\,” and “Soul Shine\,” the Ramblers bring a powerful mix of tradition and originality to every performance\, capturing the true spirit of the mountains. \n7:30 PM – Cruz Contreras & The Black Lillies is a new rendition of an old Bristol favorite. Cruz Contreras is a powerhouse Americana artist with nearly 30 years in the game. From early days with Robinella and the Cstringband to leading the chart-topping Black Lillies\, he’s graced stages like the Grand Ole Opry and Conan\, with praise from Rolling Stone and NPR. Cruz got his start at 15\, playing guitar behind his younger brother Billy Contreras at fiddle competitions—long before Billy became a world-renowned fiddler\, known for his work with George Jones\, Sierra Ferrell\, Ricky Skaggs. But it was a moment in 1993 that sealed Cruz’s fate: finding himself in a room with the Father of Bluegrass\, Bill Monroe. That room\, that sound\, that presence—it lit a fire that’s never gone out. \nNow touring behind his debut solo album Cosmico\, Cruz is joined once more by a band of road-tested companions under the name Cruz Contreras and The Black Lillies. Together\, they bring with them a catalog of songs that stretch across time — from the familiar past to the hopeful unknown. \nFood and drink concessions for this Border Bash will be EZ Squeezy\, Pins & Friends\, Platter & Pour\, Snapp’s Craft\, and Sunset Slush. \nLocal artisans & businesses offering a booth at this event will be AR Workshop\, Beaded Bliss\, Birthplace of Country Music Museum\, Bristol Boo-tique: a Crafts & Curiosities Shop\, Bristol Moments & Memories\, Highlands Realty\, HollerHouse\, Misty Mountain Designs\, Only Burns Twice Chili Peppers\, Sunflower Box Permanent Jewelry\, and Vantastic Sublimation. \nChildren’s activities and face painting generously provided by Dr. Connor McCall\, Annatomical Art\, Appalachian Literacy Initiative\, Bristol Public Library\, Downtown Chiropractors (Muncy Family Chiropractic and Tri Star Spine and Sport Chiropractic)\, Friends of Steele Creek Nature Center & Park\, Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians\, Holston Home for Children\, Isaiah House 117\, and The Traveling Bear Indoor Mini Golf. \nFor more information\, please visit believeinbristol.org or contact us at 423-573-2201 or info@believeinbristol.org. \nBorder Bash is hosted by Believe in Bristol and would not be possible without our community sponsors. SUMMARY:25th Annual Journey’s End
DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday\, December 17th at 6:00 PM\, Journey’s End will take place in Historic Downtown Bristol!  Journey’s End is Bristol’s local interpretation of the Latino tradition of Las Posadas (The Inns). Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem is recreated as they go from inn to inn seeking lodging and the final inn welcomes them in and celebrates their arrival. \nHow does Bristol Celebrate Journey’s End? \nOur inns are several downtown businesses and our innkeepers are various choirs and choral groups from the Bristol area. We will begin at the Downtown Center then process by candlelight with Mary and Joseph singing the traditional songs and various carols accompanied by instrumentalists. \nThis year Mary will be played by Jillian McCraw and Joseph will be Rourke Gearing. Along the way choirs from Highlands Youth Ensemble will be at Shanghai; Central Presbyterian Church at Cameo Theatre; Theatre Bristol at Stateline Bar & Grille; State Street United Methodist Church at Cranberry Lane; Marla Edwards and Friends Choral Group at French Magnolia\, and First Presbyterian Church at The Paramount Center for the Arts. Joseph and Mary will be escorted by Dreamland Alpacas (Please\, no dogs in attendance as we do not want to scare the live animals). \nAfterwards a small reception will be held at The Paramount Center for the Arts with refreshments provided by King University and Metz Food Service as well as Bristol Bagel & Bakery. There will be no street closure for this event\, and event participants are to remain on the sidewalk for the duration of the event. \nA special thank you to the Cities of Bristol\, Rev. Ann Aichinger\, Pete Buhls\, Robert Campbelle\, Marla Edwards\, Dr. Pat Flannagan\, Robert Greene\, Casey Irwin\, David and Debbie McLeish of Dreamland Alpacas\, Paramount Bristol\, Jane Morison\, Matthew Potterton\, Sullins Academy and teacher Zamantha Goldsmith\, Theatre Bristol\, Metz Food Service at King University for providing cookies\, Bristol Bagel & Bakery for providing hot chocolate\, and primary event sponsor for the evening\, Believe in Bristol\, for providing luminaries and helping hands. \nBe sure to stick around after Journey’s End for Bristol Virginia Senior Show Choir’s annual Christmas Show\, a beloved holiday tradition at The Paramount. This year’s show features holiday magic and pageantry along with familiar songs of the season. \nJourney’s End lasts a little more than an hour. Restaurants will be taking dinner reservations and several of the downtown shops will be open.  Come and celebrate Christmas in the heart of our community! \nPlease visit believeinbristol.org or call 423-573-2201 for more information.
