SUMMARY:John McEuen Concert
DESCRIPTION:Nitty Gritty Dirt Band Founding Member John McEuen Returns to the Jackson Theatre October 24\n\nFollowing his 2025 performance at the Jackson Theatre\, legendary musician and Nitty Gritty Dirt Band founding member John McEuen returns to Jonesborough on Saturday\, October 24\, at 7pm. This year\, McEuen will be joined by fellow founding member Les Thompson and multi-instrumentalist Byron McDowell for an evening celebrating more than five decades of American roots music.\n\nMcEuen and Thompson helped form the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in 1966\, beginning a musical partnership that would span decades and help shape the sound of country\, bluegrass and Americana music. Their upcoming performance brings the longtime collaborators together again to share the music and stories behind their remarkable careers.\n\nA Grammy Award-winning musician and member of the American Banjo Museum Hall of Fame\, McEuen is widely recognized for his mastery of the banjo\, fiddle\, guitar and mandolin. Throughout his career\, he has performed more than 11\,000 concerts and appeared on hundreds of television programs.\n\nOne of McEuen’s most significant contributions to American music came in 1971\, when he brought together the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and some of country and bluegrass music’s most influential artists to record the landmark album Will the Circle Be Unbroken. The project featured legends including Earl Scruggs\, Doc Watson\, Mother Maybelle Carter\, Roy Acuff and Merle Travis\, bridging generations of musicians and introducing traditional American roots music to new audiences. The multi-platinum album has since been recognized by the Library of Congress and inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.\n\nThe October 24 performance will also feature musician Byron McDowell\, whose talents on mandolin\, guitar and fiddle complement McEuen and Thompson’s longstanding musical partnership. Audiences can look forward to an evening of exceptional musicianship\, familiar songs and stories from the musicians who helped bring this music to generations of listeners.\n\nThis performance is sponsored by the Historic Jonesborough Arts Foundation.\n\nMcEuen’s career extends beyond the stage. He has authored books documenting his musical journey and the making of Will the Circle Be Unbroken\, and appeared in Ken Burns’ acclaimed PBS documentary series Country Music. He continues to perform and record\, sharing both the music that defined his career and new material with audiences across the country.\n\nTickets for John McEuen’s October 24 performance at the Jackson Theatre are available at thejacksontheatre.com. The Jackson Theatre is located at 121 W. Main Street in downtown Jonesborough\, Tennessee.\n#####\n\nAbout The Jackson Theatre: The Jackson Theatre is a fully restored theatre in the heart of historic downtown Jonesborough.
