It’ll be a cool and relaxing evening like no other.\n\nBays Mountain Park is pleased to bring back the kayak stargazing program this spring. The program is an astronomy class with a twist where you’ll learn about the constellations\, the Moon and the viewable planets with the naked eye.\n\nKayak Stargazing programs will be held from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on April 14\, 16 and 21\, and from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on May 7\, 12 and 14. The cost is $5 for park members and $10 for non-members. DESCRIPTION:The Bays Mountain Park Association has partnered with a local yoga instructor to offer residents a series of yoga classes inside the park’s planetarium theater this spring.\nThe following classes will be held beginning in March:\n–          Winter Planetarium Yoga: March 6 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.\n–          Spring Equinox Yoga: March 21 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.\n–          Spring Planetarium Yoga: April 3 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.\n–          Earth Day Yoga: April 22 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.\n–          Mother’s Day Yoga: May 9 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.\nFinally\, a special Yoga on the Barge session will be held on May 23 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. (weather permitting).\nFrom dawn to dusk\, the planetarium will feature a Sun and Moon that simulates a day’s journey in 30 minutes while performing Sun Salutations\, Warrior series and balance poses.\nConcentric\, eccentric and isometric contractions will be featured so students can work to optimize both their strength and balance as well as their mobility. Finally\, the sessions conclude with a relaxing starry night sky for the remaining 10 minutes of the class.\nEach class is approximately 45 minutes in length\, and the cost is $12 per person. Class size is limited to 9 people. Participants of all levels are welcome to attend. DESCRIPTION:Tractor enthusiasts from across the South will make a trip to Northeast Tennessee for the 33rd Annual Appalachian Antique Farm Show April 23-26 at the Appalachian Fairgrounds in Gray\, Tenn.\, hosted by the Tri-State Antique Power Association. \n\n\n\nIn an event that has grown to showcase hundreds of rare and popular tractors over the years\, including features from Brian Baxter with the RFDTV series Tractor Fever.  The agriculture inspired television network has featured the Appalachian Antique Farm Show and Northeast Tennessee for a number of years on the classic show dedicated to tractors\, enthusiasts and events across the United States. \n\n\n\nEach year the Appalachian Antique Farm Show is dedicated to a specific make\, model or style of tractor.  The 2026 Appalachian Antique Farm Show will feature the Farmall brand. Along with the featured tractors\, exhibits of all makes and models will include antique tractors\, steam\, gas\, hit and miss antique engines\, stationary steam engines\, threshing machines\, gristmill\, antique farm tools\, live steam saw mill\, belted equipment demonstrations and other farm related equipment. \n\n\n\n\n\nEach year the show features a specific make\, model or style of tractor.\n\n\n\n\n\nThe full weekend of activities include a flea market complete with arts and crafts\, antiques\, farm and tractor memorabilia\, commercial vendors\, new and used farm equipment parts within the swap meet area\, a quilt show and tradition inspired farm games such as a Skillet Throws and a Barn Dance. Other popular events include the Parade of Power throughout the Appalachian Fairgrounds\, various equipment demonstrations and the kiddie pedal tractor race and pull. \n\n\n\nAll exhibits will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday\, Friday and Saturday\, and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.  Admission is $5\, children ages 12 and under are free\, with a special senior rate of $4 on Thursday only. \n\n\n\n \nThe 33rd Annual Appalachian Antique Farm Show is hosted by the Tri-State Antique Power Association and sponsored by Food City. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe Tri-State Antique Power Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving agricultural history through the restoration of antique farm equipment. All activities at the rally are family-friendly\, and there are a variety of difficulty levels. A transplant from Canada\, she has taught at ETSU for 28 years\, and is a founding member of the Boone Watershed Partnership\, a local non-profit that identifies and addresses water resources concerns in the Boone Watershed. Recently\, the partnership completed forest restoration work at Jacob’s Nature Park in Johnson City to eliminate hundreds of invasive plants and replace them with over 400 native plants; volunteers contributed over 800 hours to the project.\nProgram Description: \nIn September 2024\, Hurricane produced high winds and torrential rains in the NC headwaters of several TN streams\, leading to flooding that scoured channels and floodplains\, removed riparian forests\, and destroyed homes and sanitary infrastructure. When extreme weather events occur\, as a hydrologist and geoscientist\, I try to understand the nature and magnitude of the event by evaluating damage to critical infrastructure and by using data to estimate how often events of this magnitude might recur in our communities. SUMMARY:Masterpiece Mingle
DESCRIPTION:The popular event bringing together art\, music\, and great food returns to the McKinney Center this year on April 24 from 7 to 9 p.m.  This is the largest fundraiser for the McKinney Center each year as proceeds support scholarships for K-12 grade students who have financial needs and other educational programming throughout the year.  The event provides plenty of opportunities for art and music lovers to meet and mingle in a fun and elegant atmosphere as they admire the work of art they get to take home\, or even exchange with another adventurous guest. \n  \nThis event\, which sells out well in advance each year\, will feature an exhibit of 120 different works of art\, and each guest will take one of these works home. The artwork\, which has been donated by regional artists\, includes such mediums as watercolor\, acrylic\, ceramics\, fabric art\, jewelry\, woodwork\, and more. All pieces will be on display for guests to admire throughout the evening until the event is over\, and each guest takes their corresponding piece of art home with them. The fun part is\, that guests receive their artwork at random. Each artwork is assigned a number\, and each program the guest receives will correspond to one of those numbers. \n  \nGuests can keep their original mystery masterpiece\, or find other guests with whom they may “swap.” Amid the fun atmosphere\, guests will enjoy live jazz music by a combo from the Jazz Exchange. They will also enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction featuring more exquisite art\, great books\, and even top-quality art supplies.  Beer and wine will be for sale by Main Street Café and Catering. \n  \nThis unique event serves as the signature annual fundraiser for the McKinney Center. DESCRIPTION:Tractor enthusiasts from across the South will make a trip to Northeast Tennessee for the 33rd Annual Appalachian Antique Farm Show April 23-26 at the Appalachian Fairgrounds in Gray\, Tenn.\, hosted by the Tri-State Antique Power Association. \n\n\n\nIn an event that has grown to showcase hundreds of rare and popular tractors over the years\, including features from Brian Baxter with the RFDTV series Tractor Fever.  The agriculture inspired television network has featured the Appalachian Antique Farm Show and Northeast Tennessee for a number of years on the classic show dedicated to tractors\, enthusiasts and events across the United States. \n\n\n\nEach year the Appalachian Antique Farm Show is dedicated to a specific make\, model or style of tractor.  The 2026 Appalachian Antique Farm Show will feature the Farmall brand. Along with the featured tractors\, exhibits of all makes and models will include antique tractors\, steam\, gas\, hit and miss antique engines\, stationary steam engines\, threshing machines\, gristmill\, antique farm tools\, live steam saw mill\, belted equipment demonstrations and other farm related equipment. \n\n\n\n\n\nEach year the show features a specific make\, model or style of tractor.\n\n\n\n\n\nThe full weekend of activities include a flea market complete with arts and crafts\, antiques\, farm and tractor memorabilia\, commercial vendors\, new and used farm equipment parts within the swap meet area\, a quilt show and tradition inspired farm games such as a Skillet Throws and a Barn Dance. Other popular events include the Parade of Power throughout the Appalachian Fairgrounds\, various equipment demonstrations and the kiddie pedal tractor race and pull. \n\n\n\nAll exhibits will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday\, Friday and Saturday\, and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.  Admission is $5\, children ages 12 and under are free\, with a special senior rate of $4 on Thursday only. \n\n\n\n \nThe 33rd Annual Appalachian Antique Farm Show is hosted by the Tri-State Antique Power Association and sponsored by Food City. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe Tri-State Antique Power Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving agricultural history through the restoration of antique farm equipment. Tri-State Antique Power Association supports the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital\, the Shriners Children’s Hospital for Crippled Children and other local charities including the Ronald McDonald House. This event gives us the opportunity to call attention to the importance of recycling\, disposing of trash responsibly\, and keeping our Historic Downtown clean. \nPlogging volunteers pose with the trash pick-up results from a past event (left); winners of the BRRR wristband grand prize for the most trash gathered (right). Our first event in 2022 resulted in almost 150 pounds of trash picked up over one hour; our second event 2024 brought in 283 pounds!\nWhat to expect:\nMeet us at Axe and Ale House at 9 a.m. on Saturday\, April 25.
