With magical\nholiday displays\, over 160 Christmas trees\, makers markets\, and much more\, Candy Land Christmas is a “must-\nsee” event. The celebration will kick off Nov. 26 at 6:30 p.m. by presenting sponsor\, Bank of Tennessee\, with a\ngrand lighting event at King Commons\, in the heart of Downtown. The Christmas trees – displayed throughout\ntwo parks – will remain lit every evening until Jan. 8\, 2023. For more than five weeks\, the event will bring\nChristmas cheer to residents\, visitors\, and businesses. \nCandy Land Christmas features live 12-foot trees decorated by a local business or non-profit organization that\ntogether tell the story of our community. Holiday trees will transform Founders Park to the “Gumdrop Forest”\nand King Commons to “Cupcake Commons.” Visitors can follow Commerce Street\, or “Candy Cane Lane\,” to\nsee the entire display. The 4th Annual Meet the Mountains Festival will be held on August 19 and 20\, 2022 in Downtown Johnson City at Founders Park. \n  \nIn past years\, the festival has served as an annual coming together of Northeast Tennessee’s outdoor recreation community and has acted as a one-stop shop to experience all of the region’s outdoor opportunities. Now under Visit Johnson City\, it intends to maintain this tradition but capitalize on the festival’s potential to attract visitors to the region. By increasing awareness of the area’s natural assets and encouraging attendees to live healthy lifestyles\, Visit Johnson City knows this festival will increase growth opportunities for the outdoor recreation economy. The ideal results are enhancing the livability and health of the community and attracting visitors to enjoy Northeast Tennessee’s world-class outdoor recreation. \n  \n“Visit Johnson City staff have been an integral part of planning since the festival’s inception. When conversations began to transfer ownership\, we knew this was an opportunity to create a tourism-driver event needed in Johnson City. DESCRIPTION:Due to the pandemic\, unfortunately Pride events all over have been cancelled… Which is why the AIDS Healthcare Foundation\, TriPride\, PFLAG Tri-Cities\, Tri-Cities Transgender\, and the Pride Community Center have decided to co-host a Pride Caravan to celebrate in a pandemic-friendly way.\n\nWe hope to provide a safe\, fun way to celebrate Pride while also being respectful of the current Black Lives Matter movement. We want to spark conversations regarding the intersectionality of both the black and LGBTQ+ communities\, especially in regards to police brutality.\n\nThis Pride Caravan will specifically focus on black LGBTQ+ activists\, such as Marsha P. Johnson\, who was the black transgender woman that threw the first brick at Stonewall in the very early hours of June 28th\, 1969; in response to yet another act of police brutality. We wish to use this platform to raise up the voices of BIPOC in both our local community and the greater LGBTQ+ community.\n\nOn June 27th\, we will be lining up at 5:00pm at the Pavilion at Founder’s Park. We will depart at 5:30pm and make our way through downtown\, continue on to University and E Market St.\, then drive down N Roan and State of Franklin\, heading back towards the Pavilion. The route will take about an hour.\n\n\nParticipants are highly encouraged to decorate their vehicles with flags\, signs\, banners\, etc.\nWe will also have a “Pride Playlist” everyone can tune into during the caravan.\n\nWe ask that participants follow all traffic laws\, as well as keep their hazard lights on while driving in the caravan.
