DESCRIPTION:Town of Unicoi To Host Free Christmas Drive-In Movie November 14 \n\n\n\n\nUnicoi\, Tenn. — The Town of Unicoi will host its last free drive-in movie of the year Saturday\, November 14\, at 5:30 p.m. at the Tourist Information Center located at 106 Unicoi Village Place. Sound will be played through FM radio\, concessions will open at 5:30 p.m.\, a surprise visitor will arrive at 6 p.m. and the Christmas movie will begin at 6:30 p.m. \n“To finish up the year with a heart-warming Christmas favorite will give guests a little bit of hope\,” said Town of Unicoi Mayor Johnny Lynch. “Despite the pandemic\, the holiday season is still about family and believing in the magic of the season.” \nLike past events\, the Clinchfield Caboose will support the screen with cars lining up back through the Mountain Harvest Kitchen parking lot and event sponsor Ambrosound\, a local professional audio\, video\, lighting and staging company\, will handle all projection and audio. Organizers also tease that someone from the movie will make a surprise appearance during the festivities and have a special gift for every child. \n“I can give a little hint that the movie involves a train\,” said Communications and Programs Director Ashley Shelton. “Which will be a lot of fun since we’re showing it at the caboose. We definitely have some movie-themed surprises planned.” \n“We’ve really enjoyed the drive-in movies this year and we can’t wait for the Christmas-themed version\,” said Candice Jones\, local Unicoi resident\, mother of two and a winner of the Halloween Costume Contest held at the October movie. “It’s been hard with COVID keeping so many things either closed or canceled\, so these events have been a rare source of fun for our family.” \nConcessions will include hot dogs\, nachos and cheese\, hot chocolate\, cookies and more. The Doug Hopson Buffalo Pavilion will house the concession stand and food-handling precautions will be taken\, including masks and gloves and one person to handle money while another handles food in an effort to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 exposure. \nThe movie will start at dark and guests are asked to remain in their vehicles except for restrooms and concessions\, and only one person from each car is allowed in the concession line. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMasks are required when guests are out of the vehicle and everyone is asked to please practice social distancing. DESCRIPTION:Unicoi History Group To Honor Veteran’s With Free Lunch This Saturday \n  \nUnicoi\, Tenn. —  The Unicoi History Group will host its annual Veterans Day Luncheon a little differently this year because of Covid-19 concerns. The organization will serve both active and retired military members in a drive-thru\, “boxed lunch” format Saturday\, November 21\, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Tourist Information Center in Unicoi. \n“We were cautious this year\,” said History Group President Lisa Willis. “We wanted to wait to host this lunch until we found a way to do it safely.” \nThe boxed meal will consist of the veteran’s choice of homemade hero sandwich (turkey or ham)\, soup (vegetable beef or chicken rice)\, and a dessert. This is FREE to veterans and family and friends’ meals will be by donation. \n“These brave men and women deserve our very best\,” said History Group Member Jean Mull. “I’m just thrilled we can still give back to our service members despite this pandemic\, because most of them have lived through far worse.” \nEveryone is welcome but orders must be placed ahead of time by calling Patricia Bennett at (423) 735-0517 or emailing recreationaide@unicoitn.net no later than Friday morning\, November 20.

DESCRIPTION:Unicoi\, Tenn. — The Town of Unicoi is combining its annual Unicoi Farmers Market with the Community\nYard Sale to give residents and visitors a full range of available products and activities every Tuesday from 8\na.m. to 1 p.m. at the Tourist Information Center at exit 32 off I-26. \n“We want to provide people a place to shop\, eat and gather on a weekly basis\,” said Communications\nand Programs Director Ashley Shelton. “By combining the two events we’re hoping to broaden the audience\nand offer both vendors and visitors a more diverse experience.” \nThe market will include fresh fruits\, vegetables\, and baked goods\, as well as local craft vendors\,\ntrade-craft demonstrators and yard sale bargains. The Tanasi Art Gallery\, located inside the Tourist\nInformation Center\, will also be open each week and offers a great escape from the heat. Picnic tables will be\nset up so visitors can browse the booths\, grab some fresh food then sit back to enjoy the summer weather\nwhile eating lunch on the hill. \n“I can’t wait to grab some fresh veggies and have lunch with my buddies while enjoying the beautiful\nviews from the Visitors’ Center\,” said Mayor Johnny Lynch. “I think this will really help bring the community\ntogether and provide both local growers and residents with a solid outlet for their products.” \nVendor pricing is based on category with farm products\, prepared food and handmade crafts requiring\na $5 annual market fee. Yard sale booths and demonstration spaces are free but an application must still be\nsubmitted. Only one application per season is required and vendors may then call each week to reserve their\nspace by phone. Booth spaces are assigned on a first come\, first served basis.
